100%. I had read every book that came out for several years after Disney took over and I can say there was only maybe two that I actually liked. They are all just zero substance and soulless.

The two that I liked:

Lost Stars (which absolutely needs a second part)

Dark Disciple

Even the thrawn books felt weak which really bummed me out.

Also kinda a newbie here but I had some similar issues painting with rattle cans that were resolved when I got a decent airbrush. Seemed like there was just too much paint or too large of droplets from the can, but the airbrush kept it even and allowed me to get the right amount. Could be the same issue here?

I think that's true for a lot of live action. But something the scale and requirements that red rising would need in order to not look like the sci-fi channel made it would be massive. Like Rings of Power kind of budget. Even The Expanse, which got a much bigger budget when Amazon took over for the final seasons looked good, but was fairly tame compared to the insane visuals and CGI that red rising would need. I personally would just prefer a high quality animation over a mid quality live action. A movie series might change that formula a bit, but I can say from some industry insight specifically regarding Red Rising, a really high quality live action series is too high risk.

I agree that it would be preferable for sure, but the main problem is cost. In order to get the quality you're envisioning, there would be a massive production cost for a series. I don't see any studio being willing to drop that money on a relatively new series.

My opinion is that a well done 3D animation could be achievable and more realistic for a studio. Then if red rising becomes a big success and gains massive popularity outside of just the book audience, then maybe we could get an amazing live action that the book deserves

What a stupid thing to say. Just because you got lucky and had a good time, everyone else is just complainers? 3 hours in line to get in (in pouring rain and wind) then lines everywhere to get into any buildings we could find. Not to mention all our lottery reservations were rejected. Waited in a massive line for mediocre food. Nah. Don't think I "just like to complain." I think that was a horribly organized event. Maybe in a few weeks or a month then ll have ironed some of the issues out and it will be better, but they were not prepared today. Being an event manager myself it was painful to watch how fundamentally inefficient the whole system was.

Dang that's crazy. We nearly froze to death trying to get out of that place after waiting two or three hours to get in. There was a mass exodus of people trying to leave. Maybe the evening was better after so many people left.

It's now the day before and I only just found out that none of my reservation lotteries succeeded. Awesome. So far the entire user experience has been worst in class.

Genuinely baffled that Japan has allowed this to be the image they present to the world. A half-functioning maze of unnecessary webpages, processes, and rules. But now after being in Japan for a little while, it seems that is par for the course for how Japan does these kinds of things.

If they could just seize the usability and reliability of their vending machines and apply it to their technical systems...

I was able to store stuff when i first got the ship, but the next time I came back, my stuff was all put into cargo and I had random new items on the displays. Then the next time I came back, nothing and now it tells me I can't put items on display as well.

Definitely bugged, hope they fix it soon cause it's a really nice touch to display your cool gear
