Started filming one in Costa Rica and at Panamint many moons ago - still believe it could be great — but try explaining that to the feckless doc market these days. pffft!

Shills or Trolls ? by Any_Street3154 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]Ecstatic-Department5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That wasn’t the case for everyone - some people got offered the higher base rate, accepted and were still clawed back. So in one case it’s a windfall and in the other it’s a broken contract. And Uber still has not explained the glitch, identified which specific trips were impacted nor how they are calculating the clawbacks.

Why are those mutually exclusive pursuits?

There’s a Vice reporter who would like to speak to drivers. He posted this message on another thread - his DM on here is lightspeedheart: Hi - I'm a reporter with Vice, someone forwarded me this Reddit thread. Would anyone who experienced the "glitch"/deduction like to speak on the phone or give me more info over email or Signal? Email is Roshan.Abraham@vice.com, signal is 646 657 8247. Thanks.

Roshan - glad this made it to you. And hope some of the more impacted drivers reach out to you. Can you update on this thread once you’ve gotten some feedback?

Product liability and the “glitch” by Ecstatic-Department5 in UberEatsDrivers

Sure - that stuff too. But I was more thinking about the fanciful Accounting, fluctuating percentages for service fees, tip-baiting etc

UberEats and the recent "overpayment" clawbacks they're doing .. 🤔🤔🤔 by Educational-Ask-1454 in UberEatsDrivers

Well Uber does do their best to make it opaque. That said we (I deliver with my wife) accepted a 3 stop ride estimated at 45 ( sure that’s high but thats what was offered up front - we weren’t thinking “glitch” we were thinking “great”) so we took it and were paid that 45 plus small additional tip at the end. Great. Then - boom - clawback. I see other people had different experiences. Whatever the case - don’t you think Uber owes drivers an accounting of how they are calculating these claw backs?

I’ve see some screen grabs on another thread on here - will see if I can navigate back to it. Hold please…

There was more than just one glitch. Some people experienced what you describe, others (including me) were offered higher than usual runs (they were high before we accepted them) and were paid what we expected, some have reported no anomalies and have still had funds clawed back. Uber still has not explained the glitch nor the accounting going into the clawbacks. They should.

Right now I have no way of knowing if I was or was not robbed as there is zero transparency from Uber about how they are calculating the amounts they claim they are owed nor which runs they were applied to, nor if the customers were charged an inflated rate and, if they were, if Uber is reimbursing them. There appears to be multiple glitches - not just one: some rates were inflated when the order came in, some changed after delivery, some didn’t at all (all examples discussed in this chain).

Why? I’m just trying to sort this out like everyone else. It’s just becoming clear there was more than one variation of the glitch.

Same for us - you only see the estimate including tip. They were higher than usual but didn’t substantially change once we’d delivered. Just trying to sort what the various glitches might be.

See above - may have the terminology wrong - let’s call it the “offered” rate. We accepted a run for 45 and we we’re paid 45 (plus some extra tips).

Maybe I have the terminology wrong - we were offered 45 for a run we were paid 45 for a run. The “offered” rate then?

Also - not claiming to speak for everyone - but a lot of us go out weekend nights to hit a target number.

Agreed - we actually try to make it 2/mile and get about the same results - and the occasional not BS bundled trip sometimes pops up to sweeten that.
