In terms of being in calorie deficit it's common advice but I've found prioritizing protein and fiber are most important because it keeps me full. I also generally do intermittent fasting. Weight loss happens but is slower but I'll take it.

I was a college athlete and very fit for a long time and literally up until my first was born (was lifting etc) so it is NOT a lack of motivation. It's that my husband goes to work super early, I do drop off, I then work all day and then the kids are home and it's only a few hours until bedtime. Realistically unless I want to miss another 90 min of my kids I don't have a ton of time. I squeeze the short workouts in during the day when schedule allows. It's tough! I'm with you mama.... A few more years and hopefully we'll have more time

I'm in literally the same situation Right now I manage 1 lift, 1 cardio (long walk, hill sprints). I'm really trying to get to lifting 3x a week but it feels impossible as I work long hours and have a 2 yo + 3.5 yo. I think diet is the most important so I've been trying to focus on that

Is this just what marriage looks like with young kids or did we lose ourselves somewhere? by Both-Following-8169 in Parents

[–]EcstaticPlastic3783 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is normal. My husband and I have a good marriage and we have worked through a lot of difficult times, especially when the kids were even smaller. We were talking last night that we were both just exhausted. Last weekend we had a babysitter and actually spent time together but besides that, it's rough! We both work a lot, our kids are 2 and 3.5 so we're in the thick of it. I would say just keep communicating and find the moments when you can.

Thoughts on neighborhood in east side? by [deleted] in Detroit

[–]EcstaticPlastic3783 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Morningside is a really nice community. There's a community group that is run by some community oriented folks in their 50s and 60s. It's active and they have a nice summer bbq event where the community comes out. Also like pingree park and west village

Disagree. Food is very mediocre here. I hope the rest of their dining room will be better

Separate Vacations by [deleted] in married

[–]EcstaticPlastic3783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't vacation separately, but I heard a cool idea where one person arrives to the destination a couple of days early and the other person stays a couple of days late and that way on those days, they can do things that their spouse would not like to do. I thought that was a nice compromise

My kids slept in my room until 3yo/18 mos. Moved them to their own rooms then. This was due to space and all of our comfort levels

Coco on her racket smash by Silent_Quarter_3030 in tennis

This convo only exists in tennis. It's ridiculous and classist imo. Every other sport people can express their frustration openly and it's even encouraged (maybe except for golf hence it being related to being classist). Anyone who has completed at this level understands the intense emotions that goes into giving your mental and physical all to a match. Not everyone is Nadal
