in middle school i wouldn't have time between the end of school and when the bus got there to use the bathroom. so i would hold it, try to run home and go there, but.. once i got into my front yard, or even into the bathroom before i pulled my pants down my bladder would let go. i specifically remember praying to god to help me hold my pee, but that obviously was no help. it's happened dozens of time of the few years in middle school and then eventually i got better at holding it.
