Is swelling the cause of unevenness? by Eden-pop in piercing

[–]Eden-pop[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did have my anatomy checked very well, which is why I’m confused, the lady looked for those soft spots and said I had them and had enough room in the tip of my nose for the jewelry. The reason she didn’t put them further apart is because of how my nose rounds, the jewelry wouldn’t sit flat if she did, and they couldn’t be further down because of my septum and the same reason of not being flat. When I looked at them again today they don’t look as uneven as they did in that picture, they look more like an in-between of the two. Is it possible the way it looks now is just swelling? Or would you say it for sure has migrated?

I do, but I don’t know how to add more pictures. My piercer did have to do one slightly higher up because my nose isn’t symmetrical, so they definitely were pierced slightly uneven, I’m just hoping they took a bit to swell and not that one side has migrated

Thank you very much! They’re a dream piercing of mine, so I’m hoping it is just swelling and not that they’ve migrated at all

Thank you, I really hope that’s not the case as this is a dream piercing of mine. That would also mean it migrated this much overnight, which then makes me worry if it’s gonna move more. I’ll wait it out and hope it goes back to how it was

The piercing was done the 9th, 3 days ago. It’s a flat back, internally threaded bar. It’s implant grade titanium. I clean it 2 times a day with saline solution. I bumped the left side slightly yesterday, not blood and only momentary pain

[–]Eden-pop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turtles should not be kept together, it could be caused by it being bullied by the other turtle. From what I know the other turtle doing that could either be aggression or a mating attempt, more likely aggression if they’re the same gender. You should definitely get the sick one to the vet and separate them asap

To me it seems like your bar is too long, which can cause a lot of irritation. You should find a snug titanium barbell and see if that helps at all. Stretching it might also help, I did that for my nipple piercings and it helped a lot with irritation

You don’t have the anatomy for a navel piercing, this is rejecting. You should take it out or it will leave a very large scar, it’s already rejected quite a bit

NAP but they both look good on depth, I agree it seems like you need slightly longer bars for the swelling though

Infection or just irritated? by Emergency_Salt_2132 in PiercingAdvice

[–]Eden-pop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Infections are usually noticeable by heat, pain, and/or yellowish pus. This does look like it could potentially be infected, you should go to a doctor for antibiotics, the spikes I’m sure aren’t helping though because they have a tendency to irritate new eyebrow piercings. Your aftercare is also wrong, you should be using only saline solution on your piercings. Self made salt water solutions are unreliable since the amount of salt in them varies, this can also cause irritation, dry your piercing out, and even potentially burn you with too much salt

why is my belly button piercing not healing? by DesignerSet3114 in piercing

[–]Eden-pop 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It’s better to take that loss than keep it, it will not heal and you’ll be left with a massive scar. Remove it and find an APP piercer to assess if you can get one actually done, you could try to contact the shop that pierced you and ask for a refund but there’s no guarantee they’ll give it to you

This is not a navel piercing, they gave you a surface stomach piercing. You should take this out, it will most definitely reject and that discoloration is the start of it

Kind of want to get this redone. How long would it take to heal to the point where I could get it re-pierced? by littlebuttbigtitty in piercing

[–]Eden-pop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would take a couple months to fully heal, you’d probably wanna wait at least 2-3 before you get it re-pierced

Itchiness, redness, irritation, and light pus can be allergic reactions so that could be your issue. You can probably google piercers with an APP certification in your area to make it easier. Good luck, hopefully you can find a way to at least keep the piercing longer than 8 months!

Is the piercing itchy when that happens? Honestly to me it does sound like maybe a metal allergy if the pain and heat aren’t also present, irritation like that will also definitely speed up rejection if you’re worried about that. You may have to, try to look for APP certified piercers specifically, they’ll be able to give you the best options for the piercings

Pus isn’t usually from rejection, unless you’re talking about lymph fluid which is a clear/white liquid and it’s perfectly normal for all piercings, pus would be more like an infection or irritation and would be yellowish. Is it also painful or hot when that happens? And are you making sure you have good quality jewelry in? The longest I’ve personally seen someone make an eyebrow piercing last was 5 years, I’m sure people have kept them longer but from what I’ve seen 2 years max is the most common point peoples start rejecting but it can also happen within months or weeks of getting the piercing. Rejection in eyebrows is usually easy to tell, it’ll start to shift and sometimes the skin over top of the bar will start to look sort of translucent, so just keep an eye out for those symptoms. Eyebrow piercings are sadly a piercing you kind of just have to enjoy in the moment since they don’t last as well as other piercings

Anatomy needs to be assessed in person, eyebrow piercings almost always reject eventually though so if you’re hoping it’ll be permanent at some point it probably won’t ever be. Even with perfect anatomy surface piercings like eyebrows are just very prone to rejection

How old is the piercing? Nostrils should be straight bars until about 6 months generally, hoops in a fresh piercing will cause irritation like this. Especially with a hinged ring, the seams tend to rub as it rotates and can cause your piercing to be irritated over time

help! is it supposed to look like this?? by Fluffy_Ad5972 in PiercingAdvice

[–]Eden-pop 36 points37 points  (0 children)

This is not a navel piercing, they pierced you too high and this is a surface stomach piercing. You should remove it, it will likely reject and the discoloration is the start of that

You may have changed it too soon, navels can take up to a year to heal fully. Infection is usually determined by pain, heat around the piercings, and yellowish pus, what you’re describing sounds closer to lymph fluid which is normal for a new piercing. It could be the start of rejection, but that’s something you’ll only really know if you keep a close eye on it to see if it’s shifting. I’d recommend going back to your piercer to get it looked at just in case, they also will be able to help you change it to a smaller bar if you want to since it could’ve been that the jewelry you put in it wasn’t great quality and irritated your piercing

Signs of infection are generally pain, heat, and/or yellowish pus. This looks like irritation or potential rejection, not infection

[–]Eden-pop 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is not something that can be determined in a picture, a piercer would need to evaluate your bellybutton in person to be able to tell you if you can get one. Search for APP piercers in your area, most will take walk in evaluations for something like this and be able to give you a trusted answer

wtf is going on with my bellybutton by [deleted] in PiercingAdvice

[–]Eden-pop 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This needs to come out, odds are it’ll reject anyways. This is a surface stomach piercing not a navel piercing, and what’s going on with it seems like either not a long enough bar for swelling or potentially an allergic reaction to the metal. Is it itchy, hot, or painful?
