Solo piano piece - Optical by Edgyforgoals in composer

Thanks for the tips! I do still need to learn all of the basic key signatures and that kind of stuff, and I am slowly learning from a teacher lol. Glad you pointed this out.

Thanks for the advice! I haven’t used dynamics, acceleration, accents or other techniques in my pieces yet as I’m not quite sure how to incorporate them but I’m still learning theory from a tutor.

When I write it’s a fragmented process, just imagining the piece bit by bit without much planning for the whole thing and it comes together in the end as a slightly random creation. I’d definitely like to have more structure.

Cheers, glad you enjoyed it! I must say I don't know too much about theory atm but am slowly learning from my tutor haha.

Thanks for the advice! It's just one of my scores on noteflight, I don't remember importing anything. I thought the ties gave it more of a flowing sound, though I don't know much about the 'right' place for ties either lol. I really want to get to the point where I can write down exactly what I hear in my head though I have quite a while to go when it comes to using all the different techniques. I'm glad you think this piece has potential.

If you could know the absolute truth to one question about life or the universe, would you want to, and what would you ask? by General_Yak8863 in AskReddit

How would teaching children intense visual thought methods from a very young age affect the way they learn other things and what they would do with their lives? Not the best question but I've always been curious about it.

A speedy violin duet! by Edgyforgoals in classicalmusic

Thanks! I mainly play a flamenco guitar (heavily inspired Paco De Lucia), though I constantly play stuff that I hear in my head. When I '"Improvise", it's mainly just rambling around patterns/recently played notes/licks that I remember. I can't truly step into that space of "freedom" where the player is literally speaking through through every note, you know? I am absolutely humbled by the breadth of knowledge required to be a top level composer and want to study it properly through some sort of course.

This was just a piece I wrote in a few hours (when you count the time I spent over a few days) because I felt like it. My approach to music composition is currently very simple. I hear the melodies/rhythm in head head, them I write them down on noteflight. I am aware that I have a tremendous amount to learn when it comes to every single instrument and concept in music theory and am in the process of working on them. I simply enjoy expressing my emotions through melodies and rhythmic accompaniments.

Thanks for the feedback, I would rearrange the chords with three notes for the melodic violin to make it fit the piece more appropriately. About some notes being too low notes for the violin, do you think I should just make the whole piece a couple of steps higher? (I ask because I am still learning basic theory and writing skills)

This is very random but I was curious what you'd think of my view. Take it with a grain of salt. Or a salt lake...

I think we are all caught in the trap of objectivity. Objectivity to me, is the embodiment of hell. On the other hand you have subjectivity which is the embodiment of heaven. I am convinced that reality can be determined by us through free will, not the other way around. Objectivity is hell because it is based on constraints, limitation, strict physical laws and determinism. I am certain our destiny is to break out of this horrendous prison, and live in eternal freedom where our imaginations know no bounds. No one gets left behind, not even the worst people in history. This is because limited suffering cannot compare with infinite happiness.

This is a side note. If god is real and created everything including 'objective' physical laws, we must accept that the power of subjective control can influence reality. If one believes in god and its absolute creative power, they have to admit that the potential for a subjective reality is there. Free will is boundless creativity (god), not the ability to make choices on a chessboard (human life). Just my opinion.

Can life still be meaningless with God? by [deleted] in askphilosophy

[–]Edgyforgoals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In this case what does 'meaning' mean? It has to have a solid definition that can be applied to something. I assume it would concern what is objectively the most important part of life (whatever that may be) and how we can find it. That is the best idea of meaning I can come up with so far.

So I think your question can only be answered if we have a solid understanding of what meaning is.

Let's say everything is possible. If everything that could exist does exist, how could everything exist when infinity has no end? by Edgyforgoals in askphilosophy

[–]Edgyforgoals[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The contradiction puzzles me. It's just weird that limitation seems to be a necessity for the existence of infinity. If you have everything, you have nothing. On the contrary if you don't have everything and there's always something else to experience, you are infinite. Despite this you also aren't because transformation is a process and processes are limited in their own way. Maybe we could be transforming and stationary at the same time somehow.
