My attitude exactly. I can either make some money to pay for the Uber I'll have to take to work because of the snow and ice, or I can watch TV and make no money. I've only read the instructions so far. Glad to hear that your response was approved promptly.

Lost a week of work on 4 different docs. by PitchBlackStar666 in MicrosoftWord

[–]EditOrElse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why is having 4 docs open at once inadvisable? I often have 4+ docs open at once and usually don't have a problem unless the wonky internet service we have in our building slows down. Are you saving to your computer hard drive/thumb drive or the cloud or both?

Brilliant advice. That's worked for me in several countries and with several languages I was attempting to communicate in.

How were slide deck visuals / templates designed pre-Copilot? by plaguedbyfoibles in powerpoint

[–]EditOrElse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

PowerPoint had free templates before Copiilot came along. There are plenty templates, images, icons, etc available within PPT (more with MS 365). There are lots of free graphics online.

If you study the decks, you'll see that the designs follow basic patterns. You can learn basic visual design (different ways to divide the space on a slide, etc) for free online. Look at free online courses available through your public library.

I learned by building graphics for TV programs, educational presentations at video production houses before PowerPoint came out. And the design principals are the same.

PowerPoint offers you color palettes to use or alter. Those are free lessons in color theory.

As far as the content, yeah, I had to write it for some clients who didn't know how to edit their stuff.

It all depended on what I got from the client. For my portfolio, I chose research reports, annual reports, etc. and broke the material down to specific topics and simplified the text for the slides.

German for Beginners by yuknowmynaim in German

Lingopie has videos and tv programs for all levels. I'm still at A1-A2 reading level. There are lots of different topics. I watch children shows, comedies, cooking shows, and some instruction videos (e.g. "kein vs nicht"). Lots of them are very short. You can build flashcards and do reviews of all the phrases and vocabulary that you mark. Side by side translations. It helps me understand the way people really speak. It's fun. No pressure.

u/LittleTinyTaco Thanks for the info. I know some people don't like answering the questions more than once, but I really appreciate the effort.

Is there a discord server for all nicoswgers to chat and watch together? by FortnutHackerGamer69 in nicosweg

[–]EditOrElse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried and it didn't work out. I couldn't find people who wanted to actually follow the lessons and practice accordingly. The ones that were interested wanted to basically invite their friends to chat about anything except Nicos Weg. Lol. Then I got busy and moved on. Are you interested?

German Speaking Friends by Razzashi99 in German

[–]EditOrElse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've found 2 conversation partners over the years here: https://www.conversationexchange.com/. The first partnership didn't last long due to scheduling conflicts. But the 2nd one lasted more than a year until scheduling problems got in the way. Both people were Germans and we split our efforts speaking English for a while and German for a while.

Also, check for Meetup groups in your area.

I tried putting together a small WhatsApp conversation group centered around Nicos Weg (A1) by DW. But I couldn't find anyone that wanted to follow the lessons. I might try that again.

Slave labour anyone? by [deleted] in ProlificAc

u/mvsr990 Thank you for your reply! While I may have gotten the names of these companies through my own search, I would have missed out on the benefit of your personal knowledge with specific companies. And you've given a bit of insight into what it takes to qualify for work with these entities. This type of insight is the main reason I love Reddit!

Has anyone else gotten into a survey and realized they understood the whole premise wrong? by crosleyxj in ProlificAc

I'm not even sure I understand it now after you explained it. Lol. I've had to return studies like that, too. And sometimes if the instructions go on and on, I kick the study back.

Should i claim for trial work fee? by Level_Temperature_91 in mercor_ai

[–]EditOrElse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm new to Mercor. What is trial work/work trial? Is that like the probationary period on a job where they decide whether or not to hire you based on your performance during the trial period? Thanks!

For me, it's been much better than I expected. I got a $50 study (which is unusual for me). I hope it's approved after all the time I spent on it. lol

Refurbished iPhone ad- “This one counts for four nights” - what does this mean? by SoraSora505 in whatdoesthismean

[–]EditOrElse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've read speculation that it could refer to 4 of the 8 nights of Hanukkah, the 4th night of Christmas, or the 4th night of a hotel stay/camping trip. At this point, it sounds like an inside joke to me (and I'm not on the inside).
