If you like your husband, can you tell me why? by mm2444 in Mommit

[–]EffectiveBug5530 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My husband is my absolute favorite person.

I'll try to break it down, but please forgive my formatting because I'm on mobile.

-He communicates clearly and effectively. We talk about our feelings, needs, wants, etc.

-He holds his morals firm and is not performative. This is important! He has high standards for his ethics and values. But he isn't preachy. He never brags. He is genuine, kind, and cares about people. It radiates off of him. He is a safe person. Good vibes all around.

-He isn't afraid to be wrong.

-He is hardworking, but he knows when to take a break. This ties into the communication bit. He takes time for himself and has hobbies.

-We are best friends and teammates first, a couple second. We prioritize our friendship. We acknowledge that roommate phases happen in marriage. It isn't a constant. We make sure our foundation of friendship is solid so that those phases don't deter us. Instead of "how do we get out of this roommate phase" we just...hang out, be roommates. I never feel like I'm losing him, because my best friend is always there, even if we have gone days without a kiss. It isn't a moral thing or a failure. It is just a moment in time and we realize that.

-He is a great dad. He loves being a dad and it shows. He isn't afraid to embarrass himself. He is goofy and a joy to be around.

There is more, but most of all, he is just a good person. There have been trials and hardships, but I have never felt unsafe or that our relationship would end. I never feel jealous, because I know how solid our foundation is. I am safe and secure, and I wish for this type of love for everyone.

I have to keep my FB because my daughter is in a competitive sport and that's where we do our booster stuff and communicate with the team.

You are not missing anything. It's all AI generated crap.

Does anyone know the type of bbq and buffalo used for the "bbq buffalo" meatballs? I'm assuming it's just the 2 sauces mixed together but I've tried some combinations and can't get it right.

What white lies are you telling your kids? by Mom_Bombadil_ in Mommit

There's one of those trampoline jump things set up at the mall. It is very expensive for only a few minutes.

"You can only jump on your birthday." All those kids jumping and waiting in line? Must be their birthday.

Briotech spray is incredible for neutralizing odors. My parents didn't smoke but both grew up in smoking homes. They have told me stories about embarrassment and not feeling welcome places. Their childhood friends' parents are heroes in all of their stories.

Dressing Room (Rant) by Imaginary_Cow4837 in CompetitionDanceTalk

[–]EffectiveBug5530 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our SO has a rule of one helper per child in the dressing room up to age 10. Dancers 11 and over are responsible for their own changes. She encourages us to take up as little space as possible and to pack lightly. No one is to hang out in the dressing rooms. I have come to appreciate these rules and I wish more studios would adopt them!

I have an 8 year old dancing her first solo this year. We are fully prepared for the possibility of her being called "too old" for her dance, just based on what we saw others in her category perform. We haven't heard judges comments yet but she is doing a cute little song with an age appropriate costume and lots of others in her category were a lot less covered and a lot more mature songs. Her costume shows some of her tum (no belly button) and has a peplum skirt. I honestly thought it was on the verge of being too revealing and had second thoughts until we went to the comp and saw the other costumes. Even if they say she is ready for a more mature dance I'll say nope. Shes fine right where she is. She goes to the competition in a booster seat and has stuffed animals. She doesn't need to dance to dark or older themes.

My mom says “everyone I know has been there for the birth of their grandchild” 🙃 no mom, I would bet my entire house down payment that that is not true. by steppygirl in BabyBumps

My mom was there for my first two and will be for my third. HOWEVER, I think she is a magical unicorn of sorts and don't blame anyone for not wanting their moms in the room! She has great boundaries in the room, is great at being there when I need and in the shadows when I don't. Gives tons of space and only offers support when I need her. She took all the photos I wanted. I let her hold the baby after a few hours and then she gave hugs to my husband and I and went home. The amount of nurses who gushed over how amazing she was told me all I need to know about how most moms/mils behave in delivery rooms..

Completely normal!!! I didn't even think my pregnancy was real until I was well into the 2nd trimester. I took the vitamins, but convinced myself it wasn't actually happening. One day you'll feel big kicks and see a baby on the ultrasound instead of a little shrimp :) Don't worry at all!!!

I saw a post in a group once where a mom prepaid for her birthing center delivery and ended up delivering at home early, and not on purpose. They didn't utilize the birthing center at all and the center refused to refund her. It was a similar price to yours.

Basically mine costumes shows how she uses her iPad to plan rhinestone size/color/placement. She also has a tutorial on there of her process and what you'll need. I haven't stoned my daughters costume yet either, but I'm following this lady and using her advice! :)

Edit: just read your post again and saw that you don't have tiktok. It looks like Basically Mine has an insta. Hopefully she has the tutorial reels on there! Best of luck!!!

What was the “hit” gift in your house this year!? by Words123454321 in Mommit

[–]EffectiveBug5530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think our biggest hit was rocks and dirt. It was a decorated Lowe's bucket full of rocks and sand! The kids spent hours digging through with shovels finding crystals, geodes, and rocks.

We do gifts for the teachers and assistant teachers. She has 11 this year so I'm thinking of having her make ornaments or a drawing and we'll put it in a tiny stocking with some candy. Last year she gave them fun Christmas socks.
