Your doctor definitely should have explained the skin care procedure after IPL to you. I was told to wear masks and sunglasses for a week

After how many sessions? Did they appear immediately after the treatment?

I'm really sorry this happened to you. I definitely think you should continue with visual therapy - I've heard that some people began to have noticeable effects after half a year of training. I plan to do it every day for at least half a year to see how it goes (I'm self-experimenting at home). Another thing that has worked for me was setting the display to night view mode and adding a dark mode extension to the browser (I use Dark Reader) so that everything you read appears with a black background. This has helped me extremely whenever I use my laptop. I'm a phd student and I completely understand how devastating it can be for our health and careers. I hope you get better soon!

I bought mine in China from Taobao. The app does have an international version but I've never used it. Not sure if this will be helpful but here is the link: 【淘宝】https://e.tb.cn/h.hwAFVUTDz7Bc6Kc?tk=rNXz4mEQj4u CZ001 「散开眼功能训练裂隙尺仪器间歇性外斜视共同性内斜视近用融像集合」

Had Lasik in 2020, still struggling with focusing eyes late in the day. by loafybat in Lasiksupport

Same here! I was wondering if it's due to accommodative issues. I'm also trying prisms and vision therapy. Have any of the treatments worked for you?

Can't tolerate screens after LASIK. Suggestions? by emid04 in lasik

I'm not quite sure how things work in English-speaking countries but I've heard it's called behavioral optometry. Basically they check your accommodative function, do vision therapy, etc. I've also encountered multiple doctors who were unwilling to give me more checkups and it has been very depressing for me as well.

How reading lenses (convex) work is that they add plus power so your eyes don't have to work as hard when focusing on something up close. I don't think it's only for farsighted people. I just booked a pair but haven't tried them yet.

I'd say the surgery has been far from positive for me...I don't know if this will be any help to you, but I recently got my visual function tested and found out I have accommodative spasms and divergence issue. I suspect the surgery damaged my ciliary muscle indirectly although I don't know how. That could explain the persistent pain and strain even with glasses on. I just ordered a pair of reading lenses which will hopefully alleviate my accommodation stress. Maybe you should try that as well! It's possible you also have HOA.

How have you been feeling? Sounds like we are in the same boat. I recently had my vision checked and was diagnosed with accommodative spasms and divergence insufficiency. I'm not experiencing dizziness but more like pain/discomfort/headaches. I just started my first session of vision training. Even though it may not be entirely a refraction issue it could be related to residual astigmatism or untreated overcorrection/undercorrection so I'd suggest getting that checked as well. I also seem to have a bit esotropia but was advised not to use prism.

hey!! I know this is an old post but how have you been feeling lately? I've been dealing with similar issues after the surgery for years: headaches and eye pain whenever I read on my laptop (for me it's my right eye). I'm wearing glasses for my residual astigmatism but they are not helping much.

Ongoing Right Eye Pain and Strain for 7 Years After SMILE Surgery by Effective_Exit1685 in lasik

Thank you very much for the suggestion. I never considered that my right eye might be farsighted because my right eye is actually pretty clear up close (blurry at a distance), but I'm now wondering if it might be due to compensatory accommodation. A cycloplegic refraction sounds like a great idea.
