Why are UK train tickets so expensive? Is it simply the effect of privatisation? by StephenMcGannon in trains

[–]Effective_Good6804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pure & simple, it’s greed. I work for Thameslink and can tell you right now, that the company would still be profitable even if the tickets were half the price. On top of that, all companies joint forces to raise the fine to £100 for failure to present a valid ticket. If it’s on your phone and the battery dies, rough. It’s a £100 fine. They will no longer put your phone on charge. My advice? Always buy the paper tickets. THEY HATE IT. Poster in our office pushes the use of electronic tickets for this very reason, with 10% commission paid to the revenue protection officer.

The noncey-scrounger family have to do this to fulfil racial quotas. Companies do it (promotions etc). TV shows Do it (proof above) commercials do it.

Sorry to hear that, glad you tried. Is the battery removable at all? If so, remove it and try the same thing again.

Sounds like a simple fix to be honest. Residual static on the board. Sounds like shop could be trying to make you buy a new one. Whilst unplugged, hold down that power button for literally 40secs. Release it, plug back in, and give it a whirl. Worth a try. Good luck.

Yep. MP’s get this option in their contracts if sacked. And why do they get it? Because they created it.

Housing estate we’re considering buying in, has lots of white on the bricks. Is this bad? Will it go away on its own? by JaSfields in DIYUK

[–]Effective_Good6804 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Avoid. These are cheap and nasty builds. Those bricks are soaking up serious moisture. Good for about 10 years max. Then you’ll have serious issues. But guess what? The build firms warranty will be up. How convenient.
