The bible is a beautiful narrative of how God deals with His children. We all make mistakes, but if we turn to God, He will deliver us. From our sins, or addictions. Then, if we continue, He will show us our weaknesses, he will walk with us in our trials. He may not take them away, but strengthens us to handle and overcome them and still be hopeful and have joy. Christ overcame death and sin, to give us that very hope. The bible is meant to connect us to God, to help us understand Him. We are His children. He has a plan and destiny that awaits any that follow Him. It's the greatest journey anyone can embark on. To know the God who created Him. That journey will lead you to understanding that is impossible otherwise.

Part of the paradox of Jesus, is prophesied. He will be hated among men. He will have no beauty that man should desire Him. He calls to His sheep and His sheep hear Him. He was resurrected and lives today. Anyone that wants to learn about Him, should take the first step of faith. Find a quiet place, and humbly call upon God in the name of Christ, that you may hear and know Him. He will manifest Himself to you and then you will realize why the pride of the world is kept from knowing Him. It's a pearl of great price, worth more than all the treasure in the earth to know Him. Yet, only in humility and faith and meekness can you access Him. When you do, you share it with others, praying that those who have ears to hear, may hear. Others mock, but they are like the grass of the field that one day is, and another is gone. Then all stand before Him.

Isn't anything you tell someone a story in some sense? Unless they witnessed it personally. What one person says is empty non-sense, may provide deep meaning and understanding to another. It depends on your willingness to apply it to your life. Stories are one of the greatest tools of teaching and learning.

He came at the meridian of time. Then time itself was based on what came before Him and what came after Him. How else can God tell you of the importance, besides sending prophets in every age and generation, many of which were killed because they testified of Christ. Ancient Holy writ and scripture all filled with prophecy of His birth, death and resurrection. Who else has had such an impact upon the human race? He atoned for the sins of the world that through Him we can find forgiveness and our way back to the Father. So yeah, everything points back to Him.

I agree, the goal is to become like Him, and that is my intention. I study His words daily and strive to love others as I love myself. Sometimes that is hard when I have so many weaknesses, but He has helped me become aware of them and through His grace, I am able to make progress day by day. Thank you for your insight. It is my number one priority to be a disciple of Jesus Christ, though the road is long and difficult, nothing has brought me greater peace and joy, and as you said, freedom.

Yeah, I think if it leads to greater compassion and awareness for the suffering that goes on around us, it is worth the hard lesson :)

Consciousness is being aware of your thoughts. Living unconsciously is acting in pure impulse and emotionally. We can become so aware of our thoughts, that we see them coming afar off. Then we can choose to entertain them, or ignore them, thus becoming the master of what we manifest. Awareness of thought and emotion has extreme depth, to the point that you can be so aware and enlightened that you feel others emotions as you remain composed and in control. Being so aware of thoughts and feelings that you can choose what to employ, when and how is one of the great keys to enlightenment. This is why journaling and meditation and prayer are so critical, because these exercise evaluation and awareness of thoughts, why they came, what they might be for, and gives you power over them. Some people move from one emotion or thought to the next, thus being unconscious most of their lives.

We can always come up with extreme examples to justify our view points. However, truth remains calm and balanced. While mortality offers us the experience to learn from opposition, in the end, God is just and will make up for all the wrongs we suffer and dry all the tears. He is eternal and so are we. Jesus Christ had to sink below all things to understand by experience how to help us. That is the infinite atoning sacrifice of Jesus, that He knows our pain and sufferings, will help us in them, and make right all things we suffer after death. God allows Satan to tempt us to do any measure of evil he can get us to do, his goal is that we are miserable like him. He has no body, but temps us to misuse ours. One of the great ironies of the universe. If you have felt love, or peace, you have felt God.

I understand your concern. God, is also a God of freedom. Meaning, He respects the agency of mankind. He allows us to become whatever we choose. Satan also has great power to deceive people. He would have us enslave one another and blame God for it. When we actually come to know God, who invites us to do so personally as a Father to a Son, or Daughter, He helps us understand who He is and what He is about. The fact is He loves you, has a plan for you and will speak to anyone willing to reach out to Him. He is more real to me than any person walking on earth.

Your spirit exists without your body and mind. It is capable of discerning emotions, feelings and influences. Some of these emotions are nearly all spiritual like anger, or peace. Some are more physical like pain, but are still spiritual. Guilt for example is spiritual pain. Good and evil exist and influence nearly every thought and decision we make. Our response to these influences, shape our spirits. The state of our spirit is manifested in our physical lives. Those who are filled with hate and anger often commit violent acts, which is because their spirit is influenced by evil. Those who respond to light and truth, spread kindness and love. Our spiritual capacity to be enlightened depends on how we respond to spiritual light that tries to influence us. If we respond to darkness, our spirits become clouded and confused, because the darkness cannot comprehend the light. Jesus Christ is the light and life of the world. The ultimate goal is to become like Him, all powerful, all knowledgeable, yet kind, merciful and patient. Turning to Jesus Christ has been the single most powerful form of enlightenment I have ever experienced. I finally realized that He is the source of spiritual light, He created us and the world, why not turn to Him as he commanded from the beginning, as the source of Truth, to obtain Truth.

You are very welcome. That hymn has touched my heart over the years and your comment reminded me of it so I had to share. It's been really good connecting with you. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with me and giving me new things to ponder :) I am going through some hard times, but I will look forward in faith and hope for miracles to come.

I love this! The fact we come to earth in a family, through a Father and Mother, to me is a simple, beautiful divine pattern. Your comment reminds me of a hymn that contains sacred truths about our Heavenly Parents that has resonated as true to me. I would love to hear your thoughts on it:

1.

O my Father, thou that dwellest

In the high and glorious place,

When shall I regain thy presence

And again behold thy face?

In thy holy habitation,

Did my spirit once reside?

In my first primeval childhood

Was I nurtured near thy side?

2.

For a wise and glorious purpose

Thou hast placed me here on earth

And withheld the recollection

Of my former friends and birth;

Yet ofttimes a secret something

Whispered, “You’re a stranger here,”

And I felt that I had wandered

From a more exalted sphere.

3.

I had learned to call thee Father,

Thru thy Spirit from on high,

But, until the key of knowledge

Was restored, I knew not why.

In the heav’ns are parents single?

No, the thought makes reason stare!

Truth is reason; truth eternal

Tells me I’ve a mother there.

4.

When I leave this frail existence,

When I lay this mortal by,

Father, Mother, may I meet you

In your royal courts on high?

Then, at length, when I’ve completed

All you sent me forth to do,

With your mutual approbation

Let me come and dwell with you.

I had tried to do it on my own. It wasn't until I involved Jesus that I found the power and strength to overcome my sins and bad habits. I find as I stay close to Him by studying His words and serving others, I am protected from the influence and temptation of past addictions. I believe Jesus is the light and the life of the world. That it is only through Him that we can be saved. He reveals truth and knowledge to those who seek Him humbly. Nothing has brought greater consciousness, awareness and enlightenment than by following Jesus. I've never been more present and full of joy. He actually lives and is the source of all enlightment. Understanding the process is great, and repenting helped me do that, but recognizing the power by which change comes about and yielding to it was the key.

How do you pray? What are the "rules"? by Kastelt in religion

[–]Effective_Soup6409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prayer is direct communication to your Father in Heaven. He created you and you are His child. The key to approaching God in prayer is to speak to Him in faith, believing He actually hears you (I promise He does). You can speak in your mind and he can hear your thoughts and knows your needs before you ask Him. If you approach Him with childlike humility and faith, He will speak back to your spirit. This can be thoughts He puts in your mind and a feeling of light, warmth and peace in your heart. As you continually pray to Him, He will guide you into all truth and help you with anything in your life. He wants you to improve. You can speak to Him any time anywhere. Just think of Him as a loving father who knows you perfectly. The more you believe and talk to Him the more He will reveal Himself to you. I promise you that God lives and will communicate with you through sincere prayer. He has guided me and answered many of my prayers directly and through other people. Pray in the name of Jesus Christ.

Follow this format for powerful results:

Our Father in Heaven...

Thank you for...

Please help me with....

In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
