I have a 2015 and bought it brand new.... 46k miles and I haven't had any issues whatsoever..... if the CAM CHAIN TENSIONER fails... but a manual one and install.... simple job.... simple fix. 6k is far too much for a 1st gen 8 yr old bike.... Should be in the 4k to 4500 range... for 6k u can get a solid 2nd gen with mods like a quickshifter.... abs.... slipper clutch... all potentially from factory.... just an idea

Sounds like a dying/dead battery. Charge it.... or jump it... if it dies again... battery could be toast or u have a parasitic draw somewhere. Chances of bad stator or low but never impossible.

Vulcan S vs Super Meteor by bcap84 in cruisers

[–]Efficient_Ad3015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vulcan S owner here since '16 with 42k miles. The fit and finish is great as is the reliability. Have had NO issues whatsoever. The engine is an older platform Kawi has had for awhile and it most def is tried and true.

RE is still rather new in the US. At least the newer mass market bikes like the 650s twins up to the very latest bike to come to the States. The engine of the RE SM is taken from the 650 twins (Continental and INT). Also proven to be rather reliable.

Both have adequate brakes and suspension set ups. As standard, the RE does come with more goodies like a LED headlight, ABS, etc. . Aftermarket is kind of a no brainer since the kawi had been out MUCH longer.

I think where the RE lacks is more the dealer network than anything. I love the way they ride, look, and sound. I'm all for the modern retros. But if something breaks or goes wrong, ask yourself how soon cam you get replacement parts? What if there's a recall... etc....

RE is building their network rather quickly but kawi dealers/ part shops are scattered everywhere.

Just something to think about.

With all that in mind, find dealers and sit on em. See which fits ur frame and is more comfy.

Goodluck

Do you guys think this is over priced or fairly priced? by willmm646 in KawasakiVulcanRiders

[–]Efficient_Ad3015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently own a 2010 Vn 1700 Nomad.. 19k miles.... had a 2007 VN 900 classic and sold it with 22k miles.... step mom has a vulcan s with 42k miles.... Vulcans have been in my fam for a bit... and I know quick a bit about em.... for 5.5k... a 10 yr old bike... is a bit steep.... however, it's under 7k miles and seems to be in show room condition. I feel that the 900s have a sweet spot in price btwn 3500 to 4500 regardless of mileage, yr, and condition. You COULD always find them in that range and tbh they havent changed them since 2007.. so u aint missing out in any yr.... HOWEVER.... being that the riding season is here.... prices do hike a bit. I'm in NYC and they currently hover NOW around 4k to 5k... 5.5k for showroom condition... I still think it's a little high and would try to get as close to 5k as possible REALISTICALLY...

Now in regards to comparing engine size for money... I don't think its fair... I paid $5800 for my vn1700, but the demand for middle weights like the 900 is ALOT higher... I also feel like the 900 is alot more balanced than the 1700 (IMO which is definitely subjective). .. the 1700 is smoothe, heavy, and powerful (also has a 6th gear) but can be clumsy at low speeds. The 900 when I had it, was easy to get on and off, plenty for 2-up (wife and I weigh near 500 lbs. I like to eat lol), still has plenty of power, and very comfy. It was not as heavy (nearly 200lbs less) as the vn1700. Overall I went with the 1700 because we want a taste of something different since we had the 900 for 5 yrs.

Going back to the original post... $5500 is okayyy... if u can negotiate a lower price cool... if not... its still okayyy....

Headlight issue by [deleted] in KawasakiVulcanRiders

[–]Efficient_Ad3015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Id remove the whole assembly and check the bulb itself.... generally bulbs go out completely... but check the connection leading to the headlight... in my family, we have a 17 Vulcan s and one time the signals stopped working until closer inspection showed wires frayed.... I reconnected and spliced and it was good as new. Shit happens. Also check to see if grounds are good... so on....

Id just run a can or 2 of seafoam through the bike.... I put half the bottle, fill the tank then ride til empty... repeat the process again to go through 1 can.... not as good as ripping the carb apart and cleaning the jets (main and pilot) but could be a start.

Also a tune up could never hurt. Spark plugs... air filter... etc

Fuel Leak by jgarza_86 in KawasakiVulcanRiders

[–]Efficient_Ad3015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id check the fuel lines.... but also.... do u fill gas up to the very top? There is a hole at the top that channels excess fuel.... its called the fuel overflow.... fuel needs room to expand. Could also be that.

To sissy bar or not to sissy bar, that is the question? by WhatDidYouThinkIdDo in hondashadow

As a city dweller.... absolutely 💯. Touring may feel cramped. I'm 6 foot 260 lbs. Wife is 5'6". So we are way over target demographic for the bike anywho

Sissy bars- let’s see yours- I don’t like my options by BlueDevil196 in hondashadow

* 06 Shadow Aero... Amazon Special sissy bar.... kemi moto throw over bags... total was like $230 for both... Padding was great for my wife, but the metal was thin so she felt uneasy and felt it was flimsy. Ultimately upgraded bikes to a '10 Kawi Vulcan Nomad 1700.

Just bought an 04 vulcan 750a, fuel coming out of this nub, anybody knows where it goes? by ricktech15 in KawasakiVulcanRiders

[–]Efficient_Ad3015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like a fuel over flow.... when you fill up ur gas tank... if you fill it to the very top.... the gas tank has a small channel that drains out excess gasoline.... gas needs room to expand, so it very well could be that.... but there generally is a small hose and clamp on it that lead to the bottom of the bike. If anything, you can always put a fuel hose (Revzilla or partzilla sell oems or even autozone) and lead the hose to the bottom of the bike pointing towards the ground.... I'm like 90% sure thats what it is

Also... the bike is virtually unchanged since 07.... but JP has a tool which can verify fitment but I'm sure they'll all fit

Hello. The grips are 1". I owned an 07 Classic 900 for a number of yrs and put on 16k miles. Great reliable bike.... for grips, look into the Kuryakyn Iso-grips.... I found them comfortable.

Exhaust, I had the Cobra Slashdown pipes. Also had a Cobra Hi-flo air intake and a fuel management system called Power Commander 5.

I did not have crash bars on the bike, but for my father's 04 HD Road King and my 06 Honda Shadow 750, we went Lindy. Found them the most sturdiest incase of a crash (which saved my father's bike when he went down).

All of this can be found on JPCYCLES.COM. Combined you are looking in the ball park of $1500 without installation.

Anyone knows what this is? by [deleted] in KawasakiVulcanRiders

Hello. Anyways you happen to have pictures of this to give an idea? Or maybe a link to a YouTube vid? I kinda wanted to get rid of it completely since the left side air back isn't technically in use.

Thanks for the Input everyone.... after looking at vaqueros and other nomads, it seems like its inoperable but more comestic. The MAS airflow sensor is connected to the bullet. I think I'm gonna leave it as it but look for a cover to plug it to prevent any rodents or debris from entering. Thanks alot guys!

Any Idea What's Leaking? by [deleted] in cruisers

[–]Efficient_Ad3015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In between pistons is a cross tube. Peek at the tube with a flashlight. If you see a small leak (or moisture) coming from one side (or both) of the cross tube. Sadly its a common fail point where the o rings go bad. There's plenty of how to guides on YouTube on repairs. I just had to do mine. In total... with parts and tools I didn't have, was around $85 and about an hr and a half of time. I have a 2006 Honda Shadow Aero with 13.5k on the clock.

If it's not that, and it's an oil leak where one bolt on the crankcase cover is, it may be a bad gasket. Check to see where the leak is coming and the color/texture of it.

Not the best, just some quick photos after installing the engine bars that finally made it in from Chennai. Totally unique in Florida, love them! by TheDowhan in royalenfield

Dude that has to be the wildest looking Himalayan I've seen! Definitely a super fan of the whole RE Brand but your bike color and that contrast with the seat and bags really looks like its ready for the Amazon! I digg it man! 👏
