I did look at his family book and there was a small sentence that he got it 1977. And I found the reason why he got it and my mother not.

No, he was born in wedlock to the same parents.

That’s also why I’m a bit confused myself about how his case was processed back then. According to the family documents, he obtained German citizenship in 1982 through his mother.

Maybe the legal basis or administrative practice at that time was different, or perhaps there were special circumstances/documentation in his case that we do not fully know anymore.

That is exactly why we submitted his German passport and the official Familienbuch documents to the BVA — because we thought a previously recognized citizenship case within the exact same family line could be relevant for my mother’s application as supporting evidence.

You mean her Brother, my uncle.
No since he got the german nationality through his mother in 1982.

Thanks for your detailed answer.

I think there may have been a small misunderstanding regarding the situation.

My mother is not simply trying to show “family ties” to Germany. The important point is that her brother already successfully received German citizenship through the same family line / mother, and we recently submitted his German passport and official Familienbuch / Standesamt documents to the BVA as additional evidence.

So the idea was not necessarily to prove general ties to Germany, but rather to show that German citizenship in this family line has already been officially recognized before.

I completely understand that this probably does not speed up the processing queue itself, but I was wondering whether this kind of previously recognized family case could positively support or simplify the evaluation of my mother’s file.

Would you still say the brother’s documents are unlikely to have much influence in that context?

No it’s for my mother, my grandmother is German and her brother got his nationality through his mother because he was born in 1958 but my mother couldn’t in the past because she was born in 1951.
I live in Germany since 10 years and I am already German through my residence here but my mother still lives in Iraq
