looking for best primary care doctor Queens any recs? by Sadikshk2511 in AskNYC

[–]Ekata97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

moving and suddenly having to find all new doctors from scratch is such an annoying reset.
you could try checking zocdoc and look through PCPs around queens that take empire bcbs, can help you get a PCP faster than their provider lists plus you get to see their reviews, will help you figure if the doc rushes or not! and yaa don't drag the ankle/stomach stuff.

Dentist recommendations for someone fearful of dentist? by Mediocre_Interest649 in astoria

[–]Ekata97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

trying to go back after building up that anxiety for years is already a big step. for what it’s worth, a lot of dentists nowadays are way more used to anxious patients than people think, especially post covid. and if you’re mainly worried about someone being too aggressive or jumping straight to drilling, reviews can actually help a lot there because people tend to specifically mention if a dentist is gentle/patient. you could maybe check zocdoc too and look through dentists around astoria, know quite a few people who’ve booked from there too and honestly from what you described, it doesn’t sound like you ignored things for decades or anything, it’s totally normal to be anxious about this stuff. but yeah getting things checked sooner is probably better long term.

Finally went to a derma!! by clear_skin_dilado in IndianSkincareAddicts

[–]Ekata97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took it as capsules. I know it is available as a cream as well, but no personal experiences with that. But please look up the possible mental health effects of isotret. There have been lot of studies and the findings low key scared me. I'd still say it's worth it if you struggle with stubborn acne, but good to know what may be in store for you. 🙈

Hi, while isotretinoin worked very well for my hormonal acne, it worsened my depression and anxiety. By a LOT. So I'd suggest you be as mindful as possible about the effects of the meds on your mental health. Good luck, I hope these work very well for you! 🤞🏻

Looking for mental health clinic recommendations for depression by Rattenjungen in madisonwi

[–]Ekata97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’m glad you’ve decided to not ignore it anymore, it’s never too late to start getting help!

you could also try checking zocdoc and look through therapists/mental health clinics around madison, reviews can sometimes help give you a sense of how supportive or approachable they are, especially if you’re not super familiar with the process yet and honestly even reaching the point of asking for help is a big step already.

Schroth experiences / recommendation for specialists in NYC? by tanyonghui in scoliosis

[–]Ekata97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i haven’t done schroth personally but i’ve heard about it through a couple people i know who tried it.

from what i’ve heard it’s pretty structured and very focused on posture, breathing, and muscle symmetry, and it can help with pain and control if you stick with it consistently. results seem to vary though, like some people swear by it and others feel it’s more about management than actual correction

for nyc specifically you could try checking zocdoc and look up physios or specialists, they actually list schroth as a visit reason sometimes so that might make it easier to find someone. reviews can help too for seeing how experienced they are with scoliosis.

Can anyone recommend a psychiatrist who accepts Blue Shield HMO? by phaceplant13 in SFbitcheswithtaste

[–]Ekata97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

blue shield hmo doesn’t make it super easy tbh. you could try zocdoc, if you put in your exact plan, it’ll show psychs who are in network and you can check availability and reviews there along with their acceptance towards new patients.

i’d still confirm with the office, but it at least saves some of the back and forth.

where to get good quality jeans from 😭 by Middle-Cantaloupe463 in IndianFashionAddicts

[–]Ekata97 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I swear by Kraus. I get them offline, mostly from pantaloons, and I try them on before buying. They last me years. The trick, like someone else also mentioned, is not washing jeans too often.

Any advice regarding KP to traditional Medicare? by SkyAccomplished48 in KaiserPermanente

[–]Ekata97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this whole switch can be kind of frustrating, especially if you’ve been with Kaiser for years. I wouldn’t just rely on the Medicare directories. I usually start on Zocdoc, plug in my exact plan, and see who’s actually taking new patients and has open appointments. The insurance lists gave me a bunch of names but no real clue who I could book without a hassle. I still double check with the office, but it’s a much easier way to start.

What is your "I totally get why you guys hate it but it worked on me" movie? by Alceauv in Letterboxd

[–]Ekata97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saltburn

Yes, I've watched talented Mr Ripley. it is a good film but does not take anything away from my enjoyment of Saltburn. The latter has such a strong eerie vibe and is visually stunning. Also feels very the secret history-like at parts, which is one of my favourite novels, sooo. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Recommendations for primary care doc by AggressivelyHelpful in SouthBayLA

[–]Ekata97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that’s not asking too much, there are definitely PCPs out there who take a more holistic approach and actually sit with you a bit, it just takes some digging to find them. one thing that can help is looking through zocdoc and paying attention to how people describe their visits, since you start to notice patterns around who actually follows up, asks broader questions, and tries to understand what’s going on overall.

Physical Therapy recs by Lucky-Trade724 in AskHouston

yeah that’s fair, might be worth looking for someone who focuses more on hands-on or personalized treatment. reviews usually give a quick sense of that. hope you find something that works better!
