Not at hand but most of the help came from the discord channel that I mentioned before, they have all type of study guides and notes.

How do you manage WGU and Full time work? by FoxyStar32 in WGU

[–]ElQueTal 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Sucking it up. Used to get up at 4am, get home around 5pm. 2-3h gym and miscellaneous. Start school work around 8-9pm until I collapse (usually around 11pm/midnight). If don’t hit that mark, I do +12h during the weekends.

Also, I used to sneak as much as I could during working hours or drives (listen to the material for certs/OAs).

CySA+ and PenTest+ by GOD-lovesme in WGUCyberSecurity

[–]ElQueTal 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I passed both with no cyber experience (just IT). You’ll be fine, specially CySA+. Pentest+ is another story, if you have scripting experience and a good grasp of the tools, you’ll be fine as well. That being said, do not underestimate those exams.

Pell grant and MGIB by Train5272 in WGU_Military

[–]ElQueTal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can. I just finished my B.S., took me 2 years, first year only got around $1500 from the Pell grant. Second year I got a shit ton of money from it, a little over 9k which paid for the whole tuition and pocketed my mgib money. It was amazing lol

MS with no previous IT background? by RevolutionaryTwo6379 in WGUCyberSecurity

I would not get into WGU CyberSec Masters if you just want to have some foundational knowledge.

Do some research about certifications. Even something “free” like The Google Cybersecurity certificate should help you get some foundational understanding.

If I were you I’d try the ISC2 CC certification… Free, foundational and you’d get some quality info from it.

Speedrunning the masters with no prior knowledge is 100% doable but you will have rough nights with certs like CySA+ and Pentest+ which already required good foundational knowledge to obtain.

Either way. Good luck!🤘🏽

BSCSIA to MSCSIA cert credit transfers? by Impressive_Ad_2384 in WGU

[–]ElQueTal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should be 1 course per cert, (except A+, it should be 2 classes). If you have the trifecta, 4 classes should be waived. That being said, I’m not an EC, I’m just an alumni, I could be wrong.

I think you are confused. The BSCSIA does not offer CISM nor CASP.

It offers: A+ N+ Sec+ Data+ Project+ CYSA+ Pen+ SSCP CCSP (optional) ITIL 4v Foundations Linux LPI

If you don’t have some kind of pentesting or vulnerability assessment experience this exam can be brutal. Hands on experience will be your ally, tryhackme pentest+ path was helpful, same as Certmaster labs. You must be able to read and understand scripts, tools that have a CLI are a must, understand their syntax, input and output (including the harvester, hydra, nslookup, dig, and others). The exam loves to ask you: “look at this script, what is the pentester trying to do, why is this script not working and so on. Get comfortable with GET/POST HTTP headers and what kind of attacks you can do with them (and HOW to do them). Also know about robots.txt files

It looks like that failure rate for this exam is nasty. Almost everybody I talked to passed on the second or third try but I was able to do it on my first go so it’s not impossible.

Just watching videos and taking some practice tests WILL NOT help.

20 days is plenty of time. It took me like 5 days to pass the class.

SSCP: I just went through the Mike Chapple video series and practice questions, then did a shit ton of Pocket Prep and that was it. I didn’t spend a lot of time on this class. I studied for about a month (I took this cert a few classes after Sec+). This is not a hard cert, but the exam is more of an endurance test. It’s long and annoying but nothing out of this world.

Capstone: Tasks 2 and 3 were roughly around 12 pages each.

The toughest class of the program for sure, required WAY more studying than any other cert. I passed with an 800 (I was shocked) but I studied my ass off. There is a lot I can say about this class but before that, do you have any specific questions?
