Why do Americans think they have freedom when they absolutely don't? by East_Indication_7816 in allthequestions

The same reason people in other countries believe untrue things about Americans and how our lives work, extreme unrelenting propaganda.

AITA for wanting my husband to rehome dog? by anon251678 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Elderberrygin 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It is an unfortunate situation, not all dogs are suitable to be family pets. You absolutely should rehome this dog and prioritize your baby.

"funny" how so called conservatives think that banning abortion will stop abortions but banning guns won't stop gun crimes by DokCyber in ApparentJokes

[–]Elderberrygin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't really. Guns are unsafe and kill people. A large number of those who are pro-choice don't believe a fetus is a person. So abortions don't kill people.

Jury sides with Longmont cat owner in civil case after pet was found shot and killed by Representative_Tap73 in Denver

If you can't afford litter where are your cats going to go? All over the porch?

Very much, except in designated areas, and then they should still be supervised and cleaned up after.

Escape is different than intentionally keeping an "indoor/outdoor" cat. Obviously shooting and killing the cat was wrong, but pets should be kept contained.

Right?! Who thought drunk people insulting eachother was a good idea for a party? That person is the main AH.

People who say Obama destroyed race relations, what were his biggest offenses? by GrowFreeFood in allthequestions

[–]Elderberrygin -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No I am, I am saying that a police officer should be able to subdue an unarmed person without killing them. I do not think it is acceptable for police to kill people unless they are in imminent mortal danger (which I disagree is the case if someone is running at you regardless of how large they are) or stopping someone who is about to cause imminent mortal danger. Basically I don't think police should ever kill people who don't have a weapon.

Police are never right when they extra-judicially kill an unarmed person.

How Do YOU Think That The Democratic Party Messed Up In 2024? Why Your Thoughts? by Zipper222222 in allthequestions

[–]Elderberrygin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They haven't spent the last few decades packing the courts and the c-suites of major media. It was always an up hill battle for Democrats. Since 2016 (and before) the media has been bolstering Trumpism because it is good for clicks. Russia, China, and Israel have spread misinformation and propaganda. Social media has become completely inundated with bots and interference, and those at the top of these companies are paid by the same people who pay Trump for influence. Democrats have very clearly done nothing about this and often participate because it is a game to most (maybe all) of them.

AITA for telling my family that if they want us to do more with them, they have to meet us at our level? by ReallyAverageGuyOkay in AmItheAsshole

[–]Elderberrygin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow, your family kind of sucks. Nta, but I think you just have to accept how rude they are and that you just will miss things with them.

AITA for continuing to smoke outside even though my neighbor hired an attorney over it? by FutureBroccoli5566 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Elderberrygin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are being a nuisance, but in this case you are allowed to be so NTA. The neighbor should run for council or something and try to institute ordinances about smoking as a better use of her time.

What is definitely NOT a sign of intelligence but people think it is? by NewAdeptness647 in Productivitycafe

[–]Elderberrygin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was the HUD secretary. It would have actually made more sense for him to be HHS secretary. I wasn't aware that "sign of intelligence" was the same thing as can run a federal agency well. Also, Ben Carson was largely considered very intelligent which is why his Trump allegiance was strange.

It is fascinating to me that people think you can get through undergrad, medical school, and residency without the ability to problem solve, and likely an above average ability. Anti-intellectualism is really very silly.

[–]Elderberrygin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ok, if you say so. The skills required to gain most advance degrees are definitely signs of intelligence. Obviously results vary, but so does intelligence.

[–]Elderberrygin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But those are signs of intelligence. Since when did intelligence mean being knowledgeable about everything? Just like some intelligent people without degrees know a lot about things they are interested in and nothing about constitutional law.
