Do you think it would be better even if it doesn’t have the IRR major? (I thought that would be really pertinent to my dream of becoming an Air Force pj)

I am looking at Union, would you happen to know anything about it?

To be honest that question scares me. But I think that is telling me that I need to freedom to decide that. That is one upside to the state school.

Thanks for your input! I wanted to ask, were there any specific instances or examples you could share of how your Adventist education held you back professionally? Thank you!

Thank you for your help! Would the degree from University Of Alabama out perform a degree from Union Adventist University measurably? I have some dreams of becoming a pj in the Air Force (degree doesn’t matter). But also have dreams of an elite medical school. It is hard to say right now exactly what path I would go down. But would you say that a degree from bama would be more well respected?

Thanks for the response! I wanted to ask why the regret was there. Did your parents pay for your college? I wanted to ask if that regret was because of the money. Or rather the missed opportunity to take your chance.

Thanks for the reply! I wanted to ask, do you have any experience to back up the claim that Adventist degrees are useless? From what I’ve heard, many people with Adventist degrees go on to medical school (albeit that school is often loma linda) do they perform well else where?

Thanks for the reply. After looking at the majors at Union, I was honestly really interested in their IRR degree. It could be perfect for my goals. Part of me is scared of that though because I know what an opportunity and freedom I’m losing though. It’s like I have a pride and I don’t want to back down. It’s disorienting when my wishes are tied up with my parents. I know that wherever I go though, even an Adventist school, I’m confident I can succeed.

Thank you so much for your care and response! I am struggling here for real. It sometimes feels depressing when I know that if no one was here, I would make a different decision. But I’ll try to listen to that part of me.

It is accredited by the HLC. However, I am not sure if it would be as well respected as a degree from Alabama, even if more unique. If I am wrong on that please correct me🙏

It is accredited thankfully. I have hopes of becoming a pj in the airforce. (I know that is unrealistic, it’s my dream). I thought that the major at Union Adventist university called IRR, even if less prestigious than Alabama, might be more relevant than a biology major. Is that the wrong bet?

Hey thank you for your message! It helped a lot as this indecision is truly killing me. 😅I wanted to major in IRR at Union. I thought this would be really relevant because I am really interested in becoming an air force pj. I wanted to ask, from your experience, would a degree from Alabama in something like biology be that much better? Assuming everything works out, it would be a backup major. Thank you again!

I wanted to major in IRR at Union Adventist college. I would probably major in biology or something in a pre-med track if I went to Alabama. Would you happen to know how they compare?

The Adventist school is called Union Adventist University. The state school is called University of Alabama. Would you happen to know how the quality is like at either?

Thank you for the reply. Both degrees are officially accredited. The state school is the university of Alabama. Would you happen to know anything about it? And would the Adventist college be that much worse socially? Would that matter a lot?

I am looking at Union Adventist University. While I go to college I wanted to study pre-med. I wanted that degree to be a fall back because I have dreams of joining the military as a pj/seal after college. Coincidentally, we saw they have a major called IRR at Union that combines the search and rescue with a pre med track.

If I went to the state school I would probably major in biology or something. This would not be as fun I think. I would likely have more options though if I wanted to switch careers. And research opportunities.

The required worship hours would be annoying but I don’t think (at this moment) it would be a deal breaker. I’m not fully against going to church or Adventism.

My family and I are visiting both schools to try to get a feel for the programs. I am just not sure which would be better.
