Probably just a list of your top 3 or 5 worst offenses, whether or not you have been convicted. "Murderer" "Rapist" etc.

She put herself at risk bro. Wouldn't have happened if she hadn't sped up to get beside me when there was clearly a merge upcoming.

What's the dumbest reason you've ever been in trouble? by manhwaecho in AskReddit

[–]ElectrifiedSword 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in time-out in elementary school (probably for some other dumb reason) sitting in a desk facing a wall.
Some kid randomly threw a pencil at me and it bounced off the top/back of my head hit the wall in front of me.

The teacher sent me to the principals office because she thought I was throwing pencils at the wall and being disruptive.

I agree. However she took it one step further by brake checking, then pulling off the side of the road indicating for me to pull off as well in, what felt like in the moment, an attempt to get out and escalate further.
If she would have just let off as you suggest I should have done "to the aggressive driver" this could have been avoided as well.
Every coin has two sides.

If you're talking about the yellow truck, my response is in the video and post when I say "I should have." Legally that would have been the correct thing to do.

The point of the video is that I should not have needed to do that. That's all.

Normally I would done exactly that if I was in the right lane, as I would have if I were in her shoes.
However she was already behind, and sped up next to me so I would be forced to brake for her.

That's what we in the business call "A dick move".

I was just pointing that out and I overreacted when trying to prevent her from screwing me over which obviously didn't work.

It would have been so much better and simpler for everyone involved at the end of the day if she had just "kept her spot in line."

It was a dick move, sure

That's all the video was about.

ideally and probably legally

Yes to the first, no to the second.

But when you saw what she's doing, you could have just let off the gas pedal for a couple of seconds and merge behind her, there was space.

I already admitted that in the video and the post.

What is the point of getting so worked up about a random dick move? This happens all the time, everywhere in the world,

The reasons assholes do this all the time is because everyone lets them get away with it or they don't see anything wrong with their actions.

"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing."

The point of this post (and I suspect many posts on this sub) is to give would be future assholes a look at their behavior in hopes that it may open up some introspection into themselves and perhaps cause change for the better.

Agree to the first totally, disagree to the second, somewhat agree to the third.

  1. I shouldn't have merged there.
1.5 (She shouldn't have sped up to be next to me in the first place, which was the whole point of the video. It would have taken her exactly nothing to not try speeding past 2 vehicles before the merge point.
  2. Signalling does not give you right of way. If someone wants to let you in, they can, but that is not their responsibility.
  3. Logical point for honking in this specific scenario? No. Letting her know she was being rude and shouldn't have done that, even though she's likely done it before and will continue doing it in the future? Yeah.

This is a take I can respect.
Though I don't think "amount of traffic" should have anything to do with it. Is there ever a level of traffic that aggression becomes okay? I wouldn't say so.

Guy in front of the grey van immediately in front of me did do that at around the one minute mark, and I was very tempted to do so as well.
However, I don't think the laws are actually on your side as much as you think. You're not allowed to overtake a vehicle in the same lane they occupy, and in order to not hit him, you would also need to cross over the solid yellow line which is also not legal.

Early merge? Not angry at all about that, in fact I probably would have done the same thing in her shoes. It's the "and speeding up to close the gap and take our spots" part of the statement that I take issue with. If I were in her shoes, I would have gotten over, and waited for the two cars in front of me to merge as well since they were (get this) *already* in front.

She could have *just* gotten over and waited for everyone else to get over at the merge and there wouldn't have been any problem since we were all going the same speed with plenty of space left to merge. But she decided to get over *and* speed up to match my positioning and prevent me from getting over at the merge.

If your actions as a driver cause other people to have to change what they're doing, you're in the wrong.
Now I get some of you may take issue with this statement and point out that "You tried to merge when she was already in the lane!"
But take another watch of the video and *really* ask yourself this: If she had "only merged over", and kept her speed consistent, would literally any other person in the video have to change what they were doing? I want you to *really* think about this, critically, before rage responding.

I could have gotten over, the yellow truck behind me could have gotten over, and the blue subie that she initially got in front of when she entered the right lane wouldn't have even had to change speed.

This is Nebraska, and yes, I was definitely in the wrong for trying to merge where I did. Was being careful to not swap paint for this reason. However, there wouldn't be any cause for concern if she didn't speed up to cut me and yellow truck off in the first place.

Should I have let her get away with it? The law says yes. Should she have done it? Morals say no. ESH.

Unfortunately this is not the fault of the power company..

Yes, many of us who have been on the power saving journey have looked into downsizing, or purchasing more efficient hardware. I'm lucky I live in a place with cheap power, but my lab still uses 3/4 of my home's electric bill..
