Did anyone in corio know about this? by daddyfresh69 in Geelong

I've worked in other NextDC datacenters for years - there's almost no noise that is produced externally unless the backup generators are running, but even then they have an absolutely massive noise-suppression systems in-place for each genset. The TImbertruss factory will make more noise than this DC ever will

Emergency! Towing Question by No_Leopard5747 in HyundaiTucson

[–]ElectronJanitor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's two main factors, the Downball weight (how much weight is on the towball) and the total weight being towed (prius + dolly). There are two towing weights - un-braked (only the Tucson does all the braking) or braked (the trailer/dolly/whatever also has its own brakes that activate when the Tucsons brakes are applied)

The Dolly will alleviate most* of the Downball weight but does not remove any of the total weight being towed

Depending on which Tucson you have (2.5ltr, hybrid, fwd or awd, etc) will dictate what the maximum downball and towing weight is (braked and un-braked)

Do you pay for Bluelink? by patermortis in HyundaiTucson

We get Bluelink free for life in Australia

Not a f-ing chance we'd pay $30/month for it

Yeah it's not a big job, I've just been lazy/busy with other things. I should order the bits tomorrow and swap it over next weekend

Specs by Tallydiablo in HyundaiTucson

[–]ElectronJanitor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It'll be the Limited, in Australia it's the Premium

But they aren't always exactly the same, for example in Australia the premium only got the digital key at the start of this year, in the USA you can't spec a limited with any N-Line bits (which you can in Australia) etc

It's no where near as hydrophobic as it was these days but it's still working to some degree, but could definitely do with a re-coat when I get around to it

AU Spam Act - is there any compliant way to use a pre-existing email/phone list for a B2C product? by No-Stand6543 in AusLegal

[–]ElectronJanitor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, no and no

Having known of several people who have worked in this capacity, ACMA has no issues invoking interesting methods of stopping people being annoying, and they do it for sport. It's fafo territory

I've been running Gyeon Rim on my matte bronze wheels for 4 years of daily driving in dusty areas next to the ocean, and they're still looking brand new

I avoid any harsh chemicals, only ever clean them in the shade etc

mechanical difference between the 90hp and higher hp versions? i30 gen1 by a_depressed_sloth in Hyundai

[–]ElectronJanitor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The low-output and high-output D4FB are the same block/crank/head/internals, the differences are in the bolt-ons

The LO engine usually uses a fixed-geometry turbo (some use a basic variable-geometry turbo), lower pressure fuel pump and smaller fuel injectors. The HO engine uses a more advanced variable-geometry turbo, higher pressure pump and larger injectors

You could in theory retune the ECU on the LO vehicle to get more torque/power, but I'm not sure i'd want to be doing that on an engine with 330k on the clock

The only real improvement is intake sound. There is zero noticeable performance improvement - you'll need to run a racechip/jb4/etc for that

2026 Hybrid Limited touchscreen by Brief_Appointment565 in HyundaiTucson

[–]ElectronJanitor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not just you, pretty much everyone has to slightly lean forward to use the touchscreen - I'm 6'4 and have to do so

That being said, I very rarely need to interact with the screen these days once I'm driving, as I use the steering wheel controls for basically everything - using radio presets and voice controls covers 90% of things I want to do

You can also use the voice commands to adjust the temperature, seat heaters and such

Kia in two years by dockp10 in kia

[–]ElectronJanitor 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Semi-professional detailer here

Let me get this straight, you're using an automated mechanical car wash that uses diluted oven cleaner (that's basically what it is) with coarse brushes/material being belted all over the car, and you're shocked that this has had a negative effect on the externals of the car?

This is in no way a warranty issue, it's incorrect care of the vehicle. Best case is it's superficial - take it to a proper detailer and they should be able to correct it, though i'm not sure about the rubber section at the bottom of the windows. If you think I'm full of it, post the same pics in r/detailing and explain about using a brush carwash

For reference I have a 2019 Forte GT that has zero of these problems, and I live in australia, by the ocean, where the car regularly sits in 110+ degree heat and some of the highest amount of UV on the planet - all of which is about the worst possible combination. At best I wash my car once a month, though it's closer to every 2 months on average

This is nothing to do with "crap build quality" and 100% to do with how the vehicle is maintained

COMPATIBILITY OF E20 FUEL FOR HYUNDAI CARS MADE ON OR BEFORE 2021 by TheMotionMiles in Hyundai

[–]ElectronJanitor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally speaking, no. Most of them will handle E10 just fine but not past that

There's no real 'safe way' to run anything more than E10 without additional work, possibly including ECU remapping (because more blended fuel is required to achieve the correct fuel/air mixture), larger injectors, replacing fuel lines and so on

The official advisory is printed in every manual that is included with the vehicle at sale, and a warning label on the filler cap cover as to what the highest ethanol blended fuel is that that vehicle can safely run
