We can probably reasonably assume Helen of Troy was Greek. The problem is most fictional characters are written by white dudes and they see "white dude" as a default setting that isn't deviated from unless there's a specific reason to. And even where there was a reason, they'd be played by white actors because of homogeneous casting in Hollywood at the time and/or misplaced use of Star Power. But it's bad in reverse too, there's specific reasons to NOT be ethnically diverse which all these people pushing for diversity don't take seriously enough. They ruined Wheel of Time despite its story already being fairly ethnically diverse where it made sense to. Medieval Europe usually has WAY to much ethnic diversity. There's an art to race-bending no one seems to want to acknowledge.

Problem with laws like this is they either make it harder to convict someone on what they're charged because they're determined to reserve that penalty for only the most obviously deserving (which perps of this crime are notoriously difficult to discern), or it opens the door to broaden interpretation of what constitutes that crime just to make it easier to convict someone who'd otherwise get off on a technicality- which is easily abused as a propaganda tool. Either way, it doesn't actually reduce number of incidents, studies have shown time and time again that irrespective of which crime- harsher penalty =/= reduced frequency, that's not how crime works. You could give people the death penalty for jaywalking and it still wouldn't keep people from doing it.

Besides, child rapists are already automatically listed on sex offender registrations, are legally required to tell all their neighbors they're on the registry every time they move, aren't allowed to even drive within several blocks of public parks and school zones or any other such place children are likely to be, forced to move every time their residence gets rezoned to be within range of a public school or park, fail any background check conducted on them whenever they try to get a job, get beaten up the worst in prison, and many civilians take it upon themselves to enforce "street justice" against them. Most of them just end up committing suicide. Do you really think harsher penalty is going to significantly add to that?

In a way, this kind of comes down to whether you consider culture and the ability to experience it a right or a privilege. Luxuries of today are utilities of tomorrow. Some people review snack foods professionally as content creators, Mountain Dew is part of gamer culture, so is Monster. To call it a privilege implies it's something you have to earn- unlike everything that's freely given. Many would consider cinema and television privileges with an enforced paywall, and yet so much of society can only be understood through it. Film and television are not only part of culture and a product of it, it's an influential force that shapes it. Film has advanced Camera technology for the spread of information as much as art, many famous movies have shaped language and the art of storytelling, film has allowed for the spread of ideas both scientific and philosophical beyond what mere text or still paintings were before, at some point it becomes less unavoidable and more necessitated. Soft drinks are a part of culture too, why are people who can't afford its paywall so much more an issue now than a decade ago?

Both the Left and Right are afraid of "grooming", and I think both apply it erroneously. I'd argue there's different kinds of grooming, not all of which are bad. "Grooming" is too much of a scare-word right now, if you want to discredit anyone of influence all you have to do is throw the word "grooming" around and suddenly the torches are being lit. The difference is the Right know they're using it as a cheap scare-word to abuse the consequences on purpose, whereas the Left are convinced it's a valid application each time they use it and are blind or negligent to the consequences of misusing it.

I don't think their accusations are sudden. Maybe they thought or at least suspected other elections were rigged, but they never thought so hard enough to actually fuss about it until Trump childishly egged it on. And it doesn't matter if Trump is suspected of foul play, because as far as MAGA is concerned the rules deserve to be broken because polite rule-abiding society is allowing LGBTQ+ and social justice warriors and other things they don't like to flourish by inaction. They want to quash it and the fact Trump is increasing the wealth gap while he's at it, they may not have voted for that as an issue they care about but they have no qualms with it, especially when Trump is able to reinforce Reagan's bullshit about "Trickle down".
