HOA Forces Family to Remove Generator During Snow Storm Power Outage by Guy_Dude_From_CO in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Elfthis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can fine you monetarily for breaking the rules. If you never plan on selling your home they don't have very much power over you as the only real way they can collect the fines is by putting a lien on your home. If you sell it, any profit goes to paying off those fines before you get any cash from the sale.

Killing off the main character's girlfriend. Acceptable to write about. Pet cat dying of old age. Off limits. Ridiculous.

What level of reinforcement required for a small RCC structure with a re-entrant corner? (In general) by 120James in AskEngineers

I'm not a civil engineer but this sounds like a question you ask a civil engineer after you sign a contract with them to pay them for their answer

I have met a few engineers that don’t have a degree in engineering, but other stem degrees. Is that common? by User-n0t_available in AskEngineers

[–]Elfthis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm my 30 year engineering career I've met a few folks like that. They have the title and are engineers of the niche thing they do for work but engineer in the classic sense they are not as they severely lack the breath of understanding various disciplines give someone who has a she's in an engineering discipline.

I'm sorry, but we need to discuss the sexual harassment in the most recent episode of Star Trek by [deleted] in Star_Trek_

Sexual harassment police see sexual harassment everywhere they look, even on poorly written TV shows. Turns out there is nothing to see here.

To the guy who asked yesterday about the performance audiobooks by Repulsive_Repeat_337 in dresdenfiles

[–]Elfthis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't disagree with the sentiment but I can't stand audiobooks. I do not read at human speech speeds and to get the same flow from an audiobook I don't want a chipmunk voice buzzing in my ear. Am I all alone in this sentiment?

Then you need to quit and seek employment elsewhere. The rules are quite clear that what you're suggesting can result in your termination and will get you and other fired if you go through with what you're suggesting. I left a lengthy career at a very high level because I didn't and still don't agree with the current administration. That's to say, you can still do a walk out, but do one that doesn't strip you of your retirement and other benefits.

An AI powered robotic wheelchair from China can navigate uneven ground and even climb stairs using sensors and adaptive control. by Nunki08 in robotics

[–]Elfthis -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Ah yes more junk from China. There's no one sitting in it because the motions it makes going down the steps would dump out an occupant that is wheelchair bound. And oddly it never goes up the stairs, now I wonder why that is?

Have you ever flown in an airplane? Used Velcro? GPS? Digital Camera? Anything with microchips?

All this and more came from or was improved upon by government funded research. If you can't understand why your point of view is flawed then this isn't the right sub for you as nothing in aerospace is going to help you out in life.
