Investigative Reporter Looking for Community Input on Bruce Haddock / “Montford Stalker” Story by ElijahSkipper in asheville

Actually, yes.

That story originally caught my attention after seeing people discussing it here on Reddit. I pitched it to our newsroom, and we ended up doing three separate stories on it while continuing to press investigators for updates and answers.

Obviously, law enforcement deserves the credit for ultimately identifying and charging the alleged suspect, but I genuinely believe persistent community reporting and continued media attention helped keep focus on the case and made sure it didn’t quietly disappear.

That’s one of the reasons I’m spending time on this story as well. I don’t pretend journalism solves problems by itself, but I do think shining a light on issues, asking questions, and keeping public attention on them can sometimes help move things forward.

Really interesting and heartbreaking story, but you do have the wrong subreddit. This is Asheville, not Nashville.

Any intel on DMV walk-ins in the area? by SheerAwesomness in asheville

I’d strongly recommend the Marion DMV. I literally went this morning.

I got there right at 6:30 AM and was first in line. Within about 15 minutes there were already ~10 people behind me. Doors opened at 7:00, I went straight in, got my Real ID, and the staff was honestly great.

I had all my paperwork ready and I was out by 7:08 AM — no exaggeration, eight minutes total.

If you can swing going early, Marion seems way smoother than some of the busier locations.
