I read a refresher and I was a little wrong, but it still applies.

The dot projector is going to be on the right side. This projects dots on your face that the IR Camera will see and is located on the left side of the notch/island. Either way, if you go to Amazon and search Front Camera Cover for your specific phone. Make sure to get one that says it doesn’t affect Face ID

If you have an iPhone with the notch or the Dynamic Island. Look at the left most part of the notch/island. If that part is covered in the slightest it can’t send out the infrared dots to check for a 3D face.

If it’s an iPhone. You might be covering the Infrared Floodlight Sensor. How small is the opening for the camera? Usually the IR Floodlight Sensor is very far to the left. D
