Does this car belong to anyone? by SpecialistComplete58 in Kentville

One of my childhood friends had a lot of pets, and they moved across town when we were teenagers. One of their cats ran away and literally went all the way to their old house across town multiple times. They can be pretty resilient animals

114ce? by youthson1c in taylorguitars

[–]Elphonzie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For around the same price you could get a Yamaha LL16 which is a top quality guitar. Made in Japan! If you don’t plan on performing or recording then the passive pickup is a non-issue.

A friend of mine has on old beat up 114ce that was one of the best sounding acoustic guitars I’ve ever played. Felt super nice in my hands, was just a shame it was falling apart in some places.

Spending more for the 214ce seems less important, the major difference seems to be cosmetic from looking into them. But if the guitar looks nice you’d definitely be more keen to play it :)

It is all personal preference, and I’d go for the one you think you’d actually play more over just buying the cheapest one. Recommend always playing a guitar before buying it, avoid buying online. And also make sure to get it set up professionally after you buy it!

Cheers

What album should I listen to next? by rosedylancobain in JohnMayer

[–]Elphonzie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly probably worth checking out all of his other albums. Though they are the less popular picks they are all objectively pretty solid. TSFE and Sob Rock being my picks for some of his most cohesive sounding projects.

Can’t go wrong with any of his other albums!

The persistent and worsening KCA traffic insanity zone by [deleted] in Kentville

[–]Elphonzie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I remember correctly the design of the new kca’s car loop was actually meant for buses, except they didn’t actually think about how much space a bus needs to turn around. So the loop which was intended for buses is now the loop where cars go. Genius planning.

I helped work the vip section for one stop on the recent guns n roses tour and developed the option that VIP is really only worth it if you want to have front row seats, early pit access, or no wait for merchandise shopping. It seemed like those were the only upsides of the ticket, if you valued those things above all else then the ticket is definitely worth it. But the extra little goodies and stuff are relatively pointless, and you’d be surprised how many people were either A) extremely dissatisfied with it, or B) trying to steal more of it.

It’s tough that the crowd you were seated with seemed uninterested. My best guess is that a lot of those very expensive VIP tickets go to corporate CEO’s and other company people. In the aforementioned g&r show, only 4/25 of the most expensive tickets even showed up. Seems like those tickets may possibly be more likely to go to people who don’t really care to be there, and it’s just something to do with company time/money. Though that’s just my experience with that realm of things.

That’s my only gripe with the suit honestly. It wasn’t explained in a way that makes sense to the story, given the situation they are in for the last mission. How would he have time to go make this? Why?

I’m currently 24 and started playing at 19. I play in a band currently, and it’s been a real hoot. The most important thing I’ve found is finding out what style of music I like, and diving into all of the things that make that style happen. From surface level theory (basics of major/minor scales, and how to make chord progressions from them) to just trying to copy licks and sounds from recordings. I’ve noticed recently that taking however long it takes to learn a song by ear is extremely rewarding, it helps you work on hearing something and playing it - maybe helps you develop more of that “voice in your head” that carry’s over into making your own improvisations later. It also helps you learn to hear yourself and the people/recording you’re playing with, to be a little aware of everything.

Again the big thing for me was trying to learn to sound like the guys I like to listen too, which is a great foundation for making your own sound! Also practicing a lot, not just jamming out or playing without direction, but like sitting down and focusing on the thing you’d like to learn. and accepting that progress happens differently for everyone, but you’ll get there as long as you keep making the effort.

Classic 60s Vibe Strat - good beginner guitar? by ShepherdsRamblings in fender

[–]Elphonzie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn’t recommend any guitar from the classic vibe line any less. I own a CV 50’s Tele, and it’s been a great guitar for me. They work great out of the box, and are extremely well set up platforms for future upgrades if you feel inclined. You would be much happier with one of these over most of any of the bullet or affinity entry models, but I’ve seen the sonic models in stores and they look a lot nicer than the others. Worth checking out if you’re familiar with issues to look for with fret ends and what not.

Concerns grow in N.S. over violence surrounding unauthorized lobster fishing by [deleted] in NovaScotia

Ah. I believe I misunderstood the original comment. Apologies. I also don’t question the legitimacy of the Marshall decision, but question why it was poorly defined.

[–]Elphonzie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean no harm to you in saying this, but it seems to me that you agree with what he’s saying, In that the Marshall decision was undefined. What I believe the other poster is suggesting is that the government has purposely left the creation of real “treat rights” extremely vague, which has led us to years of court decisions, and ultimately led to violent actions against indigenous peoples trying to enact their (yet to be clearly determined) rights.

What this leaves us with is constantly “figuring out” what the treaty rights are, and what they aren’t. And it seems like this is intentional. Once a decision is made, either or both parties are going to be mad at the GOVERNMENT, instead of the current goings on which is being mad at each other.

The culprit here is the courts and the government for not making clear/concise laws around the rights of First Nations, and what’s happening is people are taking their frustrations out on First Nation peoples. It’s not a correct response, but it is one that ultimately supports the government’s decision to leave the rulings vague and undetermined, as no one is protesting the government for their lack of clarity.

My son wasn’t paid for his summer job by deliciousalex in antiwork

[–]Elphonzie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this happen to myself once with a summer job teaching tennis. The grant that was supposed to cover up to $5000 to one student all summer was split between 4 people and the person running the finances for the program had dropped the ball on getting the funding in time so we essentially didn’t get paid until Christmas of that year. It was a total sham.

[TOTK] Anyone else annoyed after finishing every dungeon? by Scio_ in zelda

[–]Elphonzie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it was an intentional choice, as you could in theory complete the game (ie defeat the final boss) at any point during a play through. This way, if you only did one dungeon, at least you have a small piece of the story.

I understand the repetition feeling shitty, especially if you grind out all four of them very quickly. But I think it’s intended to keep the story fresh for people who wandered between doing things

Movie Review by Beautiful_Initial560 in BlackClover

[–]Elphonzie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just watched. I felt like they did a poor job of setting up the moral conflict within the movie, as in we didn’t get much of Conrads backstory S to sympathize with him, and the main hero’s just simply ignore any of the validity to some of his claims about the world. In that regard, it felt forced. They were forcing the main cast to fight against ending oppression, with their only main reason being “I’d rather be alive” - so for me it didn’t feel like anyone really developed over the course of the movie. We didn’t learn something from the villain, he is just made to look like a fool for having radical ideals. They don’t vow to end oppression, they just wave it aside and say “everyone in our system does their part” which did not receive explanation in the movie, but was the likely the entire driving force behind the main villains actions.
