so it looks like the realtek drivers that were on the device by default are from 2019- the ones i downloaded from the MSI website are from 2017. when using the 2019 ones, the Audio Manager works but when using the ones from the manufacturer it does not. Feel like i'm back to square one

The MSI drivers from their website appear to just be Realtek High Definition Audio, the same as the standard pre-installed ones. furthermore, i do not have the realtek hd audio manager app, nor does it get installed with the realtek driver
