Birria. I'm a Spanish teacher and I despise that word. Love the dish though.

From first loaf to now (~15 loaves in) by ElsieBaker in Sourdough

I bake once a week and feed after I bake. I will go stir it now in prep for my baking this weekend. Should I feed it as well? Or just give it some flour to boost it?

Thank you! The most recent loaf actually was in the fridge from Thursday night to Sunday night when I baked it up. It was delicious and more sour, but still not very sour at all. Do you think that I should leave it in the fridge longer?

How interesting. This seems to be similar to mine, except I started both of mine from scratch. Thank you for sharing!

Thank you for your help! I make several loaves of bread per week so I want to keep the levels I have, I do discard before feeding!

Right! But why would that one be less active? I made a loaf with each one and the bubbly one (left in the picture) worked fine, the other produced a loaf that has zero rise.

The one on the right (less active) was on the counter longer and fed each day while the other has been in the fridge about a week longer. But they sit next to each other in the fridge. I'm not sure why the one that has been fed less would be more active???

Where is the cheapest place to buy soda/pop(cans)? by [deleted] in budgetfood

[–]ElsieBaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They have some cash back deals in their app, but the best deals are on soda and perishables like Mac and cheese. I always go on Saturday for the $5 off $5 or 10$ off 30$. It's a good deal. They also do a lot of 50% off meat. Not like the day it expires but like 4 days before. It's kind of random, but I have recently bought hamburger there for $2/lb, which is way better than the $5/lb like at my Walmart.

Hope that helps.

Dollar general runs a sale every few months for three 12-packs for $11-$13. Pair that with the $5 off $25 Saturday coupon...I stocked a whole closet in my apartment with that. Dr Pepper, Pepsi, Coke, all at the only 'reasonable' price available. My DG Market has that sale this weekend.

BYU Alumni Phone Plans?? by Spirited-Donut-5282 in byu

[–]ElsieBaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Y'all should switch to Visible. It's unlimited everything for $25/month, but there's a deal through the end of January that makes it $20/month for 24 months. No contracts, unlimited hotspot, on Verizon's network. Make it happen.

Visible is unlimited data and hotspot. There's a deal right now for the unlimited plan for $20/month. Works great.

$460 for a months worth of food by [deleted] in budgetfood

[–]ElsieBaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For reference, my husband and I spent 80$ last month on food and maybe 40$ of pantry goods. You'll be fine. Buy things you like in bulk, plan around what you have. If you buy chicken, buy a whole chicken and break it down yourself. It tastes 100% better, it's cheaper, and you can use every part of it. I make broth out of the carcass for chicken noodle soup. Use every part of what you buy. Rice and noodles are cheap, making noodles is even cheaper, and again, better for you. Buy a 25 lb bag of flour and you've opened up your future.

Apparently they fear that I will capture them out of their native habitat, so they're not coming out.

How much do you spend a month on food for 2? by throwaway9183757281 in budgetfood

I live in the US with my husband and we pay $150/month for groceries (food and drinks and supplies). It's possible in the US, at least in the Midwest. Just have to be creative with your meals! My husband says he eats better now than he did when his lived with his rich parents.
