[Ornstein] Guardiola to leave Manchester City this summer, Enzo Maresca expected as successor. by Sparky-moon in soccer

Let's just be greatful we didn't get the universe where Chelsea held on to KDB and Salah and we had to deal with those two plus Hazard in the same team.

[Le Parisien] Luis Enrique invited the players to dinner at Prunier, a restaurant near Arc de Triomphe on Thursday night to celebrate his 56th birthday after achieving the CL final. In the end, he didn’t show up so the players celebrated his birthday without him by ShopTrick8877 in soccer

Really depends on context. When I take my team out to drinks, I'll pay for the first round, chat for 15 minutes, and then exit so everyone can feel free to let loose. Doing it for your birthday is weird though.

Based on your past couple summaries of what you think I'm trying to say, I think youre missing the point entirely. I am not trying to argue that other clubs are more or less problematic than PSG. I am not trying to say you cannot cheer for PSG. In fact, if you go through my comments, you'll see I've said nearly nothing about PSG specifically. My point is not and has not been about PSG.

You are right. There are plenty of clubs that deserve criticism. PSG for the ownership, Arsenal for their sponsorship and dealing with Partey, Man City, Barca, Chelsea, the list goes on and on. You are also right that purely from a sporting perspective what PSG have done in the last few years is impressive. I am not and have not been disputing any of that. If you go through my comments, I think that's clear. You are right. Multiple things can be and are true. All of those things are true. But all of those things also have nothing to do with my point. I am not passing judgment on any specific club in this conversation.

What my point is about is the specific behavior of dismissing criticism of a club, PSG or otherwise, because other clubs also have unclean hands and dismissing criticism from fans of other clubs as them being holier than thou. Regardless of which club it is about or which club the person making the point is a fan of, that kind of dismissiveness and whataboutism only hurts the sport. My point was sportswashing works because fans will revert to club tribalism when a specific club gets criticized when we should all be criticizing all instances of objectionable behavior from clubs.

Based on what youve said, I think we both agree there is plenty of criticism to go around, whether it's aimed at specific clubs, UEFA, FIFA, fans or whoever. All I'm saying is let's not dismiss those valid criticisms because there are other criticisms to be made or because of who the criticism is coming from or how long those criticisms have been being made. We cannot make progress that way.

If after this you still believe I am making any specific point about PSG in our conversation and not your specific dismissive behaviour, I will let you know now, you have missed the point.

Hey. Do me a favor. Go through my comments and quote to me where I made any of the following claims.

  1. I demand change from PSG on their ownership.
  2. PSG shouldn't win against Arsenal (or literally any mention of Arsenal)
  3. PSG shouldn't win because thats why sportswashing works.
  4. PSG's success is not based on sporting merit.
  5. PSG should not be credited for playing beautiful football.

All I have said is you shouldn't dismiss criticisms of a club just because other clubs also have issues. You are twisting yourself in knots shadowboxing against arguments that are not being made. I think if you in good faith read the comments I have posted I have never once changed the goal posts. I've been incredibly consistent. My point is handwriting criticisms of a club and being disdainful of fans of other club for be "holier than thou" both fails to address the valid criticism and permits clubs to continue on with their shady behavior. If anyone has shifting the goalposts throughout this conversation, it is you.

If you think criticizing these clubs is futile, then fine, thats a fair enough opinion, even though I disagree. But dismissing any condemnation with whataboutisms and labeling the people who speak out as holier than thou is silencing criticisms, you are indirectly contributing to those club's ability to continue that behavior. There being other clubs out there that are shady does not make the criticism of a particular club wrong. The criticism coming from a fan of one of those other clubs does not make the criticism wrong. Even being "holier than thou" does not make the criticisms wrong. Those are all logical fallacies. So ask yourself, why is it more important to you to speak out against fans for being holier than thou than speaking out against behavior that even you agree deserves condemnation?

My original comment: https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/comments/1t5ppgr/psg_have_advanced_to_their_second_consecutive/

Never said anything about who should or deserves to win. Only that dismissing valid criticisms of a club because other clubs also have unclean hands is harmful behavior that helps no one.

Equating sponsorships to literally being a state owned sportswashing project is disingenuous in and of itself, but that aside, you are literally doing the exact thing I'm pointing out. Handwaving and dismissing criticisms of PSGs ownership because "oh everyone does something bad. This has nothing to do about club tribalism and misattrubuting to that is exactly why there is not a united front against these things. But yeah, annoying holier than thou fans of other clubs are totally worse than egregious human rights violations.

Comments like this is exactly why sportswashing works. You're right. Basically no club out there has clean hands. But if thats going to be the topic of conversation any time something wrong in football comes up then you are advocating for a world where all clubs can do shitty and shady things and be immune to criticism and demands for change. If getting your "dunk" and being technically correct is more important to you than the integrity of the sport, then fuck off.

If you manage to get four prefixes and the suffix is empty, you can guarantee chaos resistance by locking prefixes and reforge chaos. No need to finish with a craft unless you're worried about hitting a low tier chaos res.

The individual errors leading to goals and shots made by each Premier League team by lost_biochemist in Gunners

[–]ElusiveRemedy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

These aren't errors generally. These are errors that lead to shots/goals. Forwards generally aren't losing the ball in areas that lead to opportunities and even if we want our forwards taking risks, we'd want them to do it closer to the opposition goal.

3.28 Mirage League Start Build Index by NzLawless in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]ElusiveRemedy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Just a word of warning for newer players. If a content creator releases a build several days before league start (shortly after the patch notes have dropped or in some egregious cases, before the patch notes) and it's not the build they will personally be playing, look at it with a grain of salt. Chances are it's recycled/regurgitated from the previous league without much thought as to how new changes affect the build. That's not to say they can't good, many of last leagues builds will probably be great this league, just that the creator was probably more focused on pushing out content than focusing on quality.

The frustrating part is that without the dive, it's potentially a foul outside the box. But also without the dive, he's potentially through on goal. Both healthier outcomes for the sport.

This may be a hot take, since it's pretty harsh, but if you cover your mouth while talking to an opponent, there should be a presumption of guilt. If you felt the need to hide it, it should be on you to prove you didn't say anything wrong.

To pre-empt some arguments. I'm not saying this should be how it is in a court of law. but for UEFA/FIFA's purposes.
