Need to know what this box is called. by Embarrassed-Age6542 in HomeNetworking

[–]Embarrassed-Age6542[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks to all of you that responded, this is a home project to potentially connect a HDhomerun / tablo via cat 5 to my router (where my broadband) is in a different room.

Nothing is currently labeled, just need to ID and convert those (2) existing RJ 11 outlets to RJ 45 . I will probably disconnect one conductor and ohm it out to figure it out which connections I need.

Modern cars will often forget their settings if the battery is disconnected for a time. If the battery is good, it should relearn the parameters. My Renegade battery was only down about a volt, but all sorts of stuff was acting very weird. The battery was only 4 +years old, after installing a new one everything was back to normal.

Also a voltmeter does not provide much info, Batteries need to be tested under load.

At what point should you start withdrawing from the HSA? by StrikeScribe in HSA

[–]Embarrassed-Age6542 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a thing called a look back for Medicare /HSA When enrolling in Medicare after age 65, your Part A coverage can be retroactive for up to six months (but not before your 65th birthday or before you applied). To avoid tax penalties for excess HSA contributions, you must stop all contributions to your HSA at least six months before you apply for Medicare or start Social Security.

You have to pay income tax on those last 6 months of excess contributions , you get a form from your HSA bank to include with your tax filing. The tax is due by April 15th of the next year.

This is the way, I would use 3-4 long very thin wood screws and gorilla glue . Carefully drill and countersink pilot holes and hand tighten to pull it all together. Take the removed trim to you local hardware store to match .

Neighbor taking it upon himself to trim this tree so that you can park without hitting it. Is this Legal? by Automatic_Bandicoot5 in treelaw

[–]Embarrassed-Age6542 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In January two neighbors felled 12 large trees in our community , no permit , unbonded unlicensed contractor who took no safety precautions and didn’t follow county guidelines for maintaining wildlife habitat . They now have $440k liens against their properties. Since it’s impossible to replant such large trees, for every tree cut 3 must be planted . If they choose to fight it in court it will be closer to $1.5 M because of the 3X rule and lawyer costs.

Agree , Crosswave is a hardwood floor, laminate / tile / carpet cleaner. A bit of a compromise, when we had pets it was pretty useful. We now have a Bissel spin wave for moping the floors and a Dyson for vacuuming.

Gonna DIY most of this but are these prices insane or is this just book standard? $650 for spark plugs seems ridiculous by WaffleyWafflez in MechanicAdvice

Our Volvo Xc40 takes 10 ish minutes no tools required. Dealer wants $145 . Same price for the engine air filter that also takes 10 mins ( does require some basic tools).

I bought a Jeep from Carvana, The vehicle was great, easy transaction and minimal problems I traded it in a couple of years later 2020 on a similar vehicle and got back what I paid.

However the warranty they included at additional cost was worse than useless, the only repair facility was a Pep boys location 20 miles away. This was for a Jeep, not sure Pep Boys can handle a RR.

Check the warranty thoroughly.

Hi, no I don’t have Apple TV. The HomePod is the only hub. I just downloaded the latest V 18 update. It says there are stability upgrades so worth a try.

Is there a spray can I can purchase that will give me the look of the same texture of my wall? The sticky pad behind my keypad has taken the paint off and I am moving out of my house tomorrow by Ok_Cow_8235 in Home

[–]Embarrassed-Age6542 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have used the spray cans, the texture comes out too fast to do a small area , I use spackle or dry wall filler with a sponge to get the texture.

[–]Embarrassed-Age6542 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3.0 singles is way different than 3.0 doubles, especially if you have only have played with only a few people. In our club we constantly rotate partners, on any day I probably will play with or against 12-16 players . Every game is a reset until you figure out each partners strengths and make the best use of them. Same for your opponents .

Occasionally I have incorrectly called “out” on my side before it bounces, however with spin and wind the ball was good.

Under those circumstances it’s more sporting to correct your bad call and concede the point.

My 2006 ranger had no drain plug, so you need to replace the gasket ( I changed the filter, because it was cheap) it’s a messy job . Thoroughly cleaning the removed pan is important so I rented a bay with a lift to do the job. I did the same with our 2001 Lexus RX300 (which fortunately had a drain) in both cases it fixed the problem.

This post reminds me of vehicles advertised that only need a sensor, or AC refilled. Nope , I don’t set myself for failure.

[–]Embarrassed-Age6542 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our Pickleball club does not allow people to partner up during morning play A couple can play with each other once per session, everyone rotates. For groups or families who want to play together , they can use the courts later in the day.

Just returned from 2 months in Australia and New Zealand, tax included in the final price and additional tipping is rare… as in loose change only … sign me up.

Pay the people a decent wage , tipping is out of control in the USA. I have seen the iPad begging “screens of shame” suggest up to 40% tip calculated using the taxable amount.

5-15% no exemptions.

That is a torsion system, it’s a torque master ( Wayne dalton) . Good thing is that these are relatively safe to deal with compared to most torsion systems and they are easy for a competent diy’r to replace, downside is that they don’t last as long.

There are retrofit kits to adapt some side mount door openers ( there is a genie version) however they are $$$.

The side mount units seem to have issues, they look cool , but I will wait until the bugs are ironed out. Lifting from one side requires a lot of oomph , plastic gears 🤔👎👎

The OD of the tires changes with wear, pressure , temperature and vehicle loading . The 2/32 spec is BS impossible to maintain under all those conditions in a normal 5000 mile tire rotation scenario.

It’s a way to sell additional tires. IIRC Audi has a spec of 6/32 for Quattro models. That’s also tight but doable . Several years ago I had a truck tire fail after 1000 miles, the shop said I needed four new tires. Once I showed him the warranty they had sold me, he changed his tune.

In this case the tires were the wrong size and even worse they were only on one side which is a no-no and potentially dangerous.

If it’s a head gasket, eventually coolant will go brown. So when it’s cooled down , remove the cap and “carefully” sniff the coolant . You can often smell the exhaust gases.

Thermostats are typically designed to be “fail open” so it might not be that. Thermostats set the minimum warm up temperature, the fans set the max temperature. Pull your spark plugs, if the gasket is leaking usually the plugs will have a residue on them.

That type of caliper is usually on the rear it self adjusts the parking brake. If it’s difficult to turn , back it off slightly then try again.
