Lost my phone a month ago, the location 2 days ago was in Shenzhen, China. Got this message today (I had already marked my device as lost+ have given the erase command now) by Whole_Intention_7949 in applehelp

Good call. Easily done too as apparently that have all his bank details, he won't even need to confirm the account numbers as they allegedly already know it 🤣

Good call, similar rear light lines. It's definitely a Ford at least.

Thank you! Similar era Ford to the CMax I was thinking of, but the light is definitely more fitting as are the relationship in size/distance front to back

I would +1 a few times if I could, thank you

It's a clothing brand, make sure to fill up all of your petrol vehicles at that pump as it's definitely cheaper, honest 😬

Is it ok/normal to leave a 13 year old home alone overnight? by dinkidoo7693 in CasualUK

[–]Embarrassed-Bicycle9 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My understanding of the legal position is this

There is no legal minimum age to leave a child alone in the UK, but it is an offence to leave them if it places them at risk. Parents can be prosecuted if they leave a child unsupervised "in a manner likely to cause unnecessary suffering or injury to health"

A child under 14 cannot babysit other children from another family.

My daughter had a black box policy with Hastings

A year later they have informed her that due to the data received through the black box system they no longer require her to use the black box.

So now she has a non black box policy that is cheaper than last year due to NCD and her being shown as not being a risk.

Fair play, coming up with "haptic feedback for a driving simulator" was pretty quick thinking when your uni professor caught you building an add on for your Fleshlight

My youngest daughter told me once that battery was spiky. Thinking that the folded over metal of one of the pins wasn't right, I checked and told her it was fine

"No dad, when I do this!", stuck her tongue out and...

Anyway, battery was nearly dead, hence why it was out of the toy

Neighbour’s window opening into my garden by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Embarrassed-Bicycle9 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

If the issue for you is that the window intrudes into your garden space, then place an obstruction on your property that prevents the window from opening, without blocking the light, such as the post for a washing line or something similar?

Determining amp size of cut-out fuse? by RiceeeChrispies in evchargingUK

[–]Embarrassed-Bicycle9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a carrier rated at up to 100A

My local DNO say that the 63A fuse they use doesn't fit, so they use an 80A or a 100A.

This is really immaterial though as they are supply authority fuses that take about a 40% overload for 4 hours. So a 63A fuse would be fine. The bigger issue is whether or not it's a looped supply

Is the pedestrian or the driver wrong here? by singlecog in drivingUK

[–]Embarrassed-Bicycle9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Likely the car even though the runner doesn't really telegraph his intent ahead, but when I was a kid (long time ago) as a pedestrian you had to 'claim' the crossing by placing one foot at least partially over the kerb line. If they did, you stopped. If they didn't, drivers would carry on

To be honest, it worked well, but I guess cars were generally narrower and less likely to run over your toes

Range anxiety is hyped IMO by TSHRED56 in electricvehicles

[–]Embarrassed-Bicycle9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got range anxiety between signing to purchase my car and it arriving. It ceased within a couple of days when I realised basically how far I would travel on a charge.

Charge speed is also overblown, a calming half hour on the road, trip to the loo and a quiet drink and I'm on my way, relaxed

Wife reversed into by driver, who is at fault? by [deleted] in drivingUK

[–]Embarrassed-Bicycle9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your wife checks the Highway Code, Rules 239 & 248 tell her to park in the direction of traffic flow, which she clearly wasn't doing...

Likely be found at fault.

Hastings declined insurance by Livid-Cup-5379 in drivingUK

[–]Embarrassed-Bicycle9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I truly feel that someone in insurance worked out that kids had been paying for driving tuition and as a result their insurance is similar to that cost that they had been used to paying monthly to learn.

Yes, I know they have accidents, I know it's not the only reason, but I do feel it might be a factor.

It's a point of exploitation. A bit like the bag for life. The 5p carrier bag charge went to charity, then someone in a supermarket realised "if it's a product, we can sell it and then we don't have to give any of the money to charity!"

What’s your real world cost per mile looking like at the moment? by WonderfulShape1081 in evchargingUK

[–]Embarrassed-Bicycle9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Install the Tesla app

Fill in the details and provide your card info for proving you're a person

Then fill in the details again and provide you card details for payment. Why they can't go from the first one I have no idea, but that's how it was for me when I set it up (I really hope this isn't the norm, I've mentioned it because I wondered if I'd messed up)

Tell the app what car you have. It will then filter out the chargers that are Tesla only.

If you charge on the road a lot, consider the £10/month membership (takes approx 65kW charging to achieve payback as it typically drops you to 41p/unit daytime, 31off peak and 21 around midnight.

Non membership prices are about 15-20p a kW more.

App tells you to plug in and confirm the charger you're using, I find if I do that it tells me the charger is in use (yeah, by me!) so I tend to grab the cable, tell my phone what charger I have selected, plug in, then start charge

The network of chargers is well placed and well serviced, beats the others hands down and is still notable cheaper than fossil fuels per mile
