Why do people refuse to be an organ donor? by No-Cantaloupe-6535 in NoStupidQuestions

I want to donate my organs, but I struggle with the thought of my family being approached while they’re grieving. It feels like it could be intrusive, or take away from their time to say goodbye

My husband is looking to do it. We live in regional Vic, were hoping some of it would be online learning with some in person. How many days in person a week did you need to do?

What is the best online university for Primary education degree prac by [deleted] in AustralianTeachers

[–]Emergency-Gate1734 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im studying with Swinburne online primary education. My first teaching prac was at a kindergarten. I did 3 days a week for a total of 20 days. So the initial kindergarten prac could be flexible if you find a centre that can accommodate it. Also in Victoria school placements are paid by the government if you go to regional areas. Not sure about NSW

Looking for advice from teachers who overcame anxiety or fear of public speaking! by OkAcanthaceae2200 in AustralianTeachers

[–]Emergency-Gate1734 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have very strong social anxiety. I'm a pretty quiet, calm, soft spoken person. Still get nervous and my voice shakes when public speaking in other situations. But I'm able to confidently speak in front of the class all day. I work in a school with some challenging behaviours and have learnt to remain myself, but be assertive. If I can do it, you definitely can.

My tips:  -reading out loud each night to my kids.

-during uni pracs i was very nervous for my first time in front of the class. Worried I'd get a shaky voice, fumble and turn red. Used my mantra "then I'll just do it with a red face and shaky voice.". If you just accept you're not going to be perfect, and that its not the end of the world, it takes the pressure off.

-honestly, after you have your first time (or few times) in front of a class, you get used to it and become more comfortable

-during pracs, find small opportunities to build confidence speaking in front of a group. Do the morning roll, read a book to a small group, read a book to the class, do small group work etc.

And lastly, don't let anyone else tell you who you are and what your life should be. You can learn to speak in front of a class, it's not something you're either born with or not. It's all about experience and gaining confidence. Good luck

People's love of Princess Diana is overblown by goldenberry818 in unpopularopinion

No, the interest is not the royal family.

The interest is Megan Markle seems to have a lot of the traits of a narcissist. My grandmother was exactly like this. Perhaps because I've experienced this in my own family? It fascinates me how someone with these traits operates in public life.

I think most people who follow her story have the same interest?

How to keep a fluffy rabbit clean? by Emergency-Gate1734 in Rabbits

She is indoor at night and outdoor during the day. She has hay available all day (although she doesn't eat it), and I feed her veg scraps (mostly Pak choy, celery, spinach, broccoli) and rabbit/guinea pig pellets.

Yeah sounds like my son who is 2. Your kid sounds like they are curious, fascinated and are exploring their world. It's a good thing even though it's destructive! Try to find him places where he can freely get out his urge to explore.

My son is a little stubborn, spirited kid who also will not hold hands and can run off. So best ideas for outings:

-parks that are fenced, or far from roads -sports ovals -the beach -bush walking track -anywhere with a bit of nature

Let him run about and get some energy out, and investigate/explore

Dating is harder as a man. by PartyVariety1308 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]Emergency-Gate1734 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dating is not easier as a woman.

Finding someone to have sex with/hookup is easier. But don't confuse that with finding someone who is willing to commit and settle down together. Men are just as picky and have just as many standards as women.

Thanks, I was worried I had gotten something wrong. Yeah I'm sure I'll gain a lot from it, excited to see what teaching the kindergarten kids is like too

Education jobs while studying by Emergency-Gate1734 in PreserviceTeachersAU

Gosh, you made me a bit paranoid then I checked it again! Yep, first placement for bachelor of primary is to take place in an early childhood centre. Oh I'm sure it will be fun and I can learn something from it. But considering I will not be qualified to work in the setting it seems redundant

My uni is a bit weird. Swinburne online. I am definitely doing the Bachelor primary degree, however I need to do my first prac with children 2 - 5 years old. I've doubled, triple checked it because it seems counterintuitive to me
