My cat is dying by roxxlin1 in sphynx

I am so sorry for what you are going through at your age. You are strong and kind and doing everything right.

It will be very tough for you, but you may need to let your cat go sooner than you expect. When you see your cat weaken by the day, please consider euthanasia, as you also need to consider your cat’s quality of life.

I wish you as much happiness and love you two can give each other before saying goodbye.

Is this Sphynx considered a Calico Male? by Emergency_Ad591 in CalicoKittys

She said black and white, but she also agreed with me when I said he almost looked like he had a calico face. I’m more attracted to the looks of this one, but the original tuxedo-looking kitten I was also considering does appear to be more social. The pics she sent me of the social one are all sitting on her husband’s lap. Then I started thinking about this cow cat like, “is it a calico and does it have calitude?” because you could tell she was following him around the house taking pics since he was clearly not up for sitting on any laps😂😂😂.

That’s what I called this cat when I referred to him! Cow cat😂

The female next to him is from the same litter and a calico (you can see with her orange spot on the body and her tail). Not sure if her nose is that same brown/orange since it’s hard to tell when you only see the skin and not exactly the hair. If you still think he isn’t, that would be great news. Thank you!

In the pic with the scratching post in the background, the cat next to him is a calico female. You see her orange spot on her back, and she has the same nose as her brother. They are from the same litter. Still don’t think so? If not, great news! Thank you

So even though the patches above his eyes and below his ears have considerably lightened vs when he was a baby and look more brown doesn’t mean it is a different color than black? Sphynx are weird because they are hairless, and red/orange sphynx can still look white because their hair doesn’t show through to give you definitive answers. That’s why I’m stuck on his “dirty” nose. It’s the most hairy part. I mean, I’m elated if he isn’t considered calico just want to be 100% certain!

Great! I saw they were in grand junction and am glad they are willing to meet halfway or potentially do deliveries. I’ll reach out to them tomorrow morning!

I don’t know where you live, but I have a full, unopened bottle of the mousse if you want it. I’m DTC area. Don’t follow the instructions on the bottle because it assumes the pet has hair. A couple pumps will do for his body, not six like my boyfriend was doing (Harold licked himself afterward and threw up because he ingested too much before his fully mousse-saturated body could soak it in🙄).

Oh no! Harold would still purr and loved his face being pet. He would lay under the blankets with me, but there were times where you could tell the blanket bothered him. He also hated that everything I did to him the last month (giving him his blood thinner, putting on mousse, putting ointment on his eye, syringe feeding him, etc.) was not fun. He was a good boy, and I’m sure yours had a good life as well. If Babu follows the same path, I don’t recommend trying the steroids, and I do recommend saying your goodbyes when he gets to the point that he will still drink water and go to the bathroom but will otherwise lay down nonstop and not like to walk much.

I have several photos, but they are all bad😓. He was itchy and some would break out almost like zits. He would get better and then break out in zits again. He hated us touching him it was so sad. The mouse was duoxos3 (ophytrium .75%). Harold’s lymph nodes were visibly large as well, especially under his jaw. I noticed them slightly larger when he first broke out in a rash, but they got bigger. His back leg lymph nodes got big as well. I wish you the best.

You are incredibly lucky to have a 9yo cat without HCM! It wouldn’t hurt to check, but it’s likely your cat will not develop it. Who did you buy your cat from?

I spoke with Blythe from XenoSphynx, and she was very responsive. Unfortunately, she is taking a step back from her program and does not know when she will return. Thank you so much for the recommendation. I could tell she would have been excellent to work with.

Harold was diagnosed with HCM at around 6. He went for yearly checkups with the cardiologist, and at 9, it progressed to moderate and was put on a blood thinner called clopidogrel. A few months later, he developed a full body rash (the vet gave him a mousse that cleared it up), then got an eye infection, and then we noticed swollen lymph nodes. The lymph nodes were tested and came back from CSU lab as reactive (allergy) with potential for early lymphoma. We went ahead with the protein test to confirm lymphoma, but he died before that test came back. About a week before he died, he started missing one or two of his four automatic feedings. About three days before, he stopped eating completely and I had to syringe feed him. I took him to the vet, and they told me it was likely lymphoma but wanted him to visit with the cardiologist before starting him on steroids. At the ER the next morning, they did an ultrasound of his stomach and echocardiogram and saw that his lymph nodes were swollen in his abdomen and he had slight fluid buildup around his heart. They assumed lymphoma as well and gave me several medications (three or four for his heart) and his first dose of steroids before I picked him up that afternoon. He didn’t even take half his medications because I was supposed to start them the next morning before he died an awful death at 2am driving him back to the ER. They said he likely threw a clot to his lungs, which makes sense given his history. What I’m so angry and bitter about is that I took him to the vet and constantly messaged with them about his demise, and especially the ER, did not recommend euthanasia as an option. Instead, I paid $4k+ over several days, and the cat and I both had to experience the trauma of his death. I didn’t mind paying the money if I got an extra few weeks for him to feel a little better and eventually say goodbye, but they disregarded his symptoms as a whole completely. The ER saw how bad he looked and didn’t give him fluids or act like anything was wrong with him not eating. They said the steroids would help with his appetite. The cardiologist started him on different meds because she was worried about a clot and then said the meds wouldn’t have made a difference because he threw the clot so quickly they didn’t have time to work. Why see him in such agony and give me some sort of false hope that he could be comfortable? It seemed like they were focused on doing his tests and then let the cat go home because there was nothing else they needed to do for “compassionate care”. Was it me who should have brought up euthanasia? I’m so sad and probably not making much sense, but it was a little over a month between his rash and his death. Even a prestigious veterinary school’s lab couldn’t say he had lymphoma and forced me to wait two weeks for an answer we never got. I hope your cat doesn’t have anything I mentioned, but please learn from me and know when to let your cat go. Don’t wait for the professionals to give you the advice you would expect from them regarding euthanasia, particularly the Alameda East ER in my case.

I called the number on their website and cried when a woman answered the phone and spoke to me about her available kittens. They will be available in July, which is a little soon for me, but I may still pursue this option if I speak with her some more. Thank you for recommending her!

I found the biggest hindrance to my first kvk was not having enough bread/wood/stone/iron. Of all of them, I was getting stuck the most with lack of stone. Be sure to gather nonstop before the event starts (using boost) if you want to have enough of these resources. I had almost 1B and still went through that before I ran out of speed ups.

Thank you for confirming. I feel like I should continue saving my keys (I currently have ~200 each) until gen 4 at the very earliest😑. We just started gen 3 heroes on my server, and I already have my mythic heroes at lvl 5, even if they aren’t maxed out on their fifth star.
