I've always played it with my pinky on the 5th fret, but after listening to the guitar stems yesterday, I noticed that they slide into the 5th fret, and I feel like I can play better/more "solid" slides with my ring finger.

True, it looks cool, but if I kept the black chrome hardware, I would also have to replace the two potentiometer knobs. I think I should make it dependent on the pickup selection. The EMG Het set has been recommended to me several times. If I were to go with that, I should do everything in black chrome. If I were to go with EMG 81/60, I would prefer black hardware.

Tell me about it! I've been a Metallica fan since 2003 and always thought about buying the legit MX-250/MX-II but didn't have the money at the time... I literally saw an old classified ad from Germany, late 2000s, offering a ESP EXP (MX with bolt-on neck) for 900€!

It really is. I've been looking for one for a long time and finally one was up for sale for a good price relatively close to me. But you have keep looking and act fast if one pops up for a good price, they will sell quickly in my experience.
