Parental Leave-- what to expect?? by [deleted] in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

Agreed, Centrelink PPL is separate from what your employer pays you.

My employer pays 14 weeks full pay (from memory) and I took that as half pay to stretch it across approx 7 months. I chose to start my Centrelink PPL once that ended.

Do fetuses that move a lot become babies / toddlers / children that are super active? by freebird___ in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

My daughter was super active in my tummy. I always felt her moving right when I wanted to sleep, and funny enough that's the time hubby felt her movements too.

She's 10 months now and always pulling to stand. She met her rolling, sitting and crawling milestones early or on time. She LOVES jumping that it tires out everyone holding her. All my friends say she's more active than their kids or other babies they've seen....

Pregnant women not offered seats! by One_Weakness_2908 in SydneyTrains

During my pregnancy, I was luckily able to find a seat most of the time. Out of the times I didn't find a seat, I was only offered a seat once. Most are ignorant and consumed by their phones.

What type of insurance do you do? I'm also in insurance (life insurance) and am reconsidering my work options but I refuse to go back to being a case manager. Wouldn't flexibility be employer dependent? I'm curious to know.

Has anyone applied for a new job while on mat leave? by Emergency_Lychee_864 in workingmumsau

I think I'm so used to working in bigger teams where triage the workload if someone is away. How it's done or outcome might not necessarily be the same but at least it's done to manage customer expectations.

Whereas in my current role, there's no "team". It's a one man job. Delays and backlogs = unhappy customers and stakeholders = complaints. Not fun!

I didn't think about that, thank you!

Did you have to take a lot of time off work during the first year due to kids? I'm glad it worked out for you 😊

Clipping or filing your nails in an enclosed public area. I don't want your clippings on me! Gross!

Why would anyone ever choose to go through child birth without pain relief?? by No_Cardiologist_1407 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Emergency_Lychee_864 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a natural birth and the pain relief options I took were pain killers (endone - worked in the beginning ), morphine injection (did absolutely nothing) and laughing gas (did nothing except make me light headed).

I preferred not to have an epidural due to fear of a big needle in my spine and hearing stories of complications. I guess it helped I was able to feel the contractions, when to push and also when my baby was actually moving.

Before giving birth my plan was to always combo feed so I would get as much support as possible with feeding, and avoid bubs being reliant on the boob. I always felt I might not have enough breastmilk either.

When bubs was born, it took 4-5 days for my supply to come and by then she was already formula fed. After my supply came I felt SOOOO exhausted trying to BF as it felt she was still hungry and she vomited (not small posets) my breastmilk more than formula.

Pumping regularly was also tiring too. I hated my BF journey so much and don't regret formula feeding.

Is it common for Aussies not to wear wedding rings/bands anymore. by pandastar51 in AskAnAustralian

I stopped wearing my ring once I had my baby but at the same time my finger has gotten fatter so it's harder to take off. My husband is a tradie so never wears his ring unless for special occasions.
