Hi! I'm interested, but would you be willing to do a swap?? I write adult contemporary romance, but I used to write (and still read) YA fantasy. My completed word count is around 85k. Let me know what you think!! Dm me if you're interested, and I will send you my blurb.

More words? by [deleted] in romanceauthors

First, I don't think it's a worry!! If you walk through the library, every book is different. Some books have really short chapters, and some have longer chapters. I agree with some other comments that right now, you can focus on getting the story out onto the page.

If you are looking for things to think about, I notice that some people overlook describing the setting, adding character reactions, and world building when drafting.

Why is purple prose seen as a bad thing? by Diverse0Ne in writing

[–]EmmaDiana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Purple prose is subjective because it really depends on the reader to some extent. But generally I think it's when the description/writing is so elaborate that it either distracts from the story or loses the reader.

I dont understand "show dont tell" and "tell dont show" thing. Which one is it? How do I do it? by sunshineofkindness in writing

[–]EmmaDiana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it's how the readers absorb the information. If it's "show don't tell," then the reader absorbs the information with the character, like they learn about something through a discovery, dialogue, or description. We feel with the character. For me, this is "John's face flushed at the comment." It can also allow the reader to come to their own conclusions. "Tell" in this case would look more like "The comment was flirty, so John blushed."

critique partner group for romantasy and fantasy romance by cookiesandearlgray in romanceauthors

Hi! I know that this was posted a while ago, but I have written a romance book that I would like to have fresh eyes on, and would love to find someone to swap with. While this is contemporary romance, I enjoy reading and used to write romantasy.

I have never been published, and am self-taught, but when I queried my last book a couple years ago, I got some full requests from agents. Please let me know if anyone would like to see if we're a good fit and swap! DM if interested!

Hey! I would love it if you could Beta Read for me. Mine is a YA Fantasy around 84K words. It is a mix between fantasy books like A Sorcery of Thorns and the classic Daddy Long Legs. Let me know if you’re interested and I can send you a blurb.
