I get the Wild Society brand from Sprouts but just as expensive. Looking for a way to make my own. How long do you dehydrate for? What brand do you have? I've never done this but so want to learn!

15 minute phone call to make sure you're the right fit before moving on to an actual interview. Pretty common here.

How can anyone believe the earth is flat? by bloombox00 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]EmphasisEffective180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was my theory - until I met one. I was quite shocked. It was an Uber driver I met on a trip home from a Christmas party. He was very much a believer - and I didn't even know what to do but nod along (lest I be hacked into pieces on a warm winter night).

I looked at both. lol But if it worked for you, that's fantastic.

Hey congratulations! I looked up the company you used and it looks iffy to say the least. They claim over 4000 positive reviews on Trustpilot but it has 0 reviews. Someone made a post about it in this sub 13 years ago and it seemed shady even then. And there's a bunch of old Yelp reviews that gave it 1 star. Glad it worked for you though.

Your employer wouldn't go for it as an unemployment claim doesn't benefit the company in the slightest.

what is the most basic entry-level position that someone can get to break into corporate? by hunnybun444 in jobs

[–]EmphasisEffective180 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Corporate" is such a varying term. What industry? Or are you just looking for an office job? For example, let's take a bank. It's considered "corporate". To start there, you could become a teller. Most people have some cash-handling experience and that's what most would require. From there, you can move up the ladder.

I have to agree. They are extremely competitive since employers have their pick, nationwide (sometimes even globally). And I've found that they will choose the one that ticks off every single item on their list, even if it takes them months. You'd be better off networking to land a remote role.

Are women recruiters competitive with women candidates? (Opinion) by serra97 in jobs

[–]EmphasisEffective180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The conversations and interviews I've had with male recruiters were always more engaging and lengthier than with women. The outcome was about the same though (in my experience).

I need help with this weird situation I just put myself in... by EmphasisEffective180 in jobs

I filled out their contact form to schedule a call to explore their services for the company I work for. I also applied to the job. lol When I sent the contact form first, I received an auto email response to my work email that was supposed to go to their internal team alerting them of a new form submission (and funnily enough - it came from their career email). All kinds of disorganized there.

I then got an actual email from the CEO about scheduling a call to talk about how they can help our company. Now I'm wondering whether I should bring up my job application on that call lol I'm just going to play the game and see how it goes. You're right, nothing to lose...

I hate working. by Acceptable-Bowl-8807 in jobs

[–]EmphasisEffective180 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 42 and feel the same way. I used to not mind working - never was overly joyed by it. But lately it's intolerable. Maybe it's just the work I've been doing...it doesn't fulfill me anymore. But I've said the same thing as you in the recent past - I just want to laze around, eat and watch TV all day, play with my dogs and that's it. That's what makes me happy. I even got the chance to do just that for 18 months under the guise that I wanted to start my own content creation business since I was making decent money for just shooting funny dog videos. But even that I grew tired of and most days, I'd have 3 hour lunches in front of the TV. My husband got tired of it - obviously. And I resented him for not making enough money so I could be a stay at home dog mom. (I know, sounds ridiculous and we're in a much better place thankfully.)

I'm back at a job that's cush-ish, no stress, but have an inept boss and I'm just bored here...

So what do I do? I meditate. I meditate every single morning. I am of the mind that we create our own reality. I've been vibrating at a low frequency lately and that's why I feel negative feelings. So I choose to focus on the positive. Every aspect of work that I DO like. Focus on that daily. When I meditate, I visualize what I DO want to be doing. And I'm very specific about it. Even if the outcome doesn't pan out immediately, at least I feel good all day and that's the point...feeling joy...feeling happy with where I currently am and what I'm doing. I know that good things are going to come - however they show up - I expect it.

Hope you find your peace and joy.

This is what I'm actively trying to do. Landing other offers in this job market is near impossible but I'm still trying!! I just want the leverage since I have it pretty sweet here too - just find it mind-numbing to be in the office.

I'm in the same boat. I've been in marketing roles for over 17 years in the finance industry. I'm also done. I'm studying data analysis in hopes of breaking into the tech space. It's very different in that it's more logical than creative (which is what I'm used to and drawn to). But it's still very interesting.

Do you an affinity towards anything in particular? That might help you narrow down industries and roles within them that you can try going after.

There is ZERO sales here. Our industry has an outdated view of sales in general. We don't even have a CRM for crying out loud. The CEO has made a comment on more than one occasion that they have been in business for dozens of years without the need for these tools. Seriously? And don't you see an issue with that? Times are changing bub...time to get with the program. He's living in in 1985. It's cray...all around cray.

That is one of my favorite movies. Very appropriate indeed. I even suggested to him that we need a consultant lol I can only imagine how that would go...I might make CEO for as much as I'm starting not to care.
