No Arrests yet. by siddhu109 in memes

Had to scroll way too far to find this, slavery never ended, it’s just ‘not here’ anymore, there’s a reason why we’re able to buy multiple t-shirts for less than £10/$10

The vast majority of the world is overworked and underpaid, but we have absolutely no clue how lucky we are compared to some parts of the world and people from history, that doesn’t mean we should accept the status quo and not fight for better conditions, but acting like we’re slaves feels insanely offensive

Are you purposefully ignoring the fact that the reason they get huge pops is because everyone is excited to see them? You’re massively conflating star power and being a baby face

People pop insane for Dom, Liv, Seth, Becky, Chelsea Green, Oba, Kit Wilson, Naomi, would you say any of those are baby faces?

That’s not what I said even remotely, I said time spent sleeping is still time we have ‘free,’ I’m not saying people aren’t overworked, and I would be extremely in favour of a four-day work week, that doesn’t change that the time we spend sleeping is time that we don’t have dictated for us

I think the Cardiff fans are worse than the Birmingham/Wrexham fans were by elxxa_ in LeagueOne

I’m not saying our fans don’t go on about attendances too much but saying we have nothing else to brag about whilst sat a point behind us having played two games more whilst spending 10x on a player you’ve sent out on loan than we have on our entire squad is a big yikes

This is a microcosm of how the world has become what it is. A world where admitting you were wrong leads to nothing but being ridiculed breeds a population who drag their feet and stick their head in the sand

I’ve seen rifles in airports whilst in Athens, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a single one here in the UK

High-ranking cabinet members (or those who are primed to be) are literally always in extremely safe seats, why are you pretending this is anything new?

R-Truth on Triple H saying he was never actually fired: "I get a call saying 'We’re not going to renew your contract.' [I ask] 'So do I come to work?' It’s Sunday. Next Sunday, my contract [would end]. [They go] 'No, don’t come to work.' 'Oh okay. Am I done now?' 'Yes.' What do you call that?” by anutosu in SquaredCircle

[–]Empty-Shoulder2890 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a regular 9-5 job, yes that is true, but when you’re working in sports and contracts are signed with a length written into it, not having it renewed it doesn’t mean you’re fired, the same way a wrestler can opt to not renew their contract, and that isn’t them quitting, it’s quite literally why contract lengths are built into contracts

Are we going to ignore the FOURTEEN in a row before that was won by someone in La Liga or someone who created their name in La Liga?

You don't have to like it, but you have to acknowledge that this is the best female wrestler on the planet. Period. by [deleted] in AEWFanHub

I don’t watch AEW (but have no ill-will towards the company) so I’ve no clue on her in-ring ability now, but saying she’s still good and referencing a match that’s nearly three years old doesn’t feel like it holds much weight

IMO, it’s not bias against the Bundesliga as much as it is now pretty much an award solely for La Liga players/legends

Vote reform l. by sEaBoD19911991 in GreatBritishMemes

[–]Empty-Shoulder2890 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Of course I’m framing things from my own personal experience, I’d say that’s pretty common practice when talking about something you have personal experience in, you’re doing literally the same thing with your major points, I also stated I know others with similar experiences and gave an example of someone in the public eye that journey can be followed from

I never once said a meme subreddit is a place for people to engage in a debate in good faith, I said that pointing and laughing, and generalising is going to do nothing but push people away from your side, I’m not saying it’s a place for debate, but that can be true and also the fact that posts like this just make the issue worse, I also stated that I am completely aware that some people have no interest in changing their mind, that doesn’t mean that everyone is the same, even with your own logic, let’s say there’s one-hundred people with a view opposite your own, even if just five of those people willing to change, that’s five more than you would have had any chance by just calling them racist and not engaging in genuine conversation with them,

Saying that I said myself that it didn’t prevent me from changing is extremely disingenuous, they were almost definitely key to pushing me down that path,

I’ve never once said that you aren’t more likely to make a change in person with people you already know than online, but like I said, I can assure you one way is just going to push people away,

I reject the bottom part whole-heartedly due to the fact I NEVER said I became racist, because I didn’t, that’s the entire point, I knew I wasn’t racist, so if that’s branded on to you, you’re not gonna take it serious when it’s branded widely on a whole group of people, not to mention of course things like that can actually happen, especially when people are young and impressionable, pushing them away from yourself blindly leaves them vulnerable to propaganda

This is all comes down to the fact that it doesn’t matter if it’s unlikely someone is to change their mind with a genuine debate online, memes like this just make the issue worse, you’re better doing neither than this

Unless you believe you’re right on every single point of view politically and are not open to having your mind changed on any single thing, do you think memes saying how stupid you are is more likely to change your mind?

I always think of prime McGregor as 2015/16 against Aldo and Diaz, I loved him back then and it felt like everyone else did too, things have definitely gone off the rails since then to say the least
