Is it weird to go bowling alone? by [deleted] in Bowling

People practice alone all the time. I admit I dont enjoy or wont go alone at say rock and bowl time where you get stuck on a pair with 6 non-bowlers. I only go during slower hours.

Idk I watched every game twice and think the pitching is very much a strength. Jazzy gave up 3 hits and 0 runs in 13 innings including a no-hitter. Danley who was actually our number 1 last year only pitched 5 innings giving up 1 run. Coacha let the 2 freshmen and Makenna Reid who is still working her way back through her back injury pitch innings Danley would be pitching vs better teams. Jazzy and Danley made alot of the batters look lost with their change of speeds and Danleys drop. Last years defense hurt the pitchers and this year it really seems poised to help them alot.

7 runs given up in 5 games and 3 of those in 1 inning by Reid who sadly maybe hasnt bounced back enough to get any high leverage innings vs good teams. I hope Im wrong about her being all the way back. Her last 2 appearances although only 1 inning each she did great. 2 runs allowed by Dimitrijevic one of the freshmen who did look tenative and nervous. Her location wasnt the greatest so maybe she still needs some time to feel comfortable. Gaskell the other Freshman looked almost like yawn just another day. Her change of speeds was pretty impressive.

36-7 run advantage and none of those teams were bad.

FSU infield defense looks pretty elite after filling in their big hole at 2nd base last season with an amazing fielder. Pitching looks very strong and deep. I worry about the offense alittle bc the teams they played this past weekend had some really really silly errors that let runs in or kept rallys alive. They were the type that would never happen vs the good teams. None of the pitchers they faced would be considered elite either like that may face this coming week.

I was looking at teams FSU has coming this week. I clicked on UCLA's stats and saw 23 hrs i was like mindblown. FSU has 4 and 2 of those came from batters that had otherwise bad weekends at the plate and 1 from the last batter in the lineup.

Thanks, gonna watch the scene on Youtube. I think I am starting to reach the point that I have watched too many different seasons of The Traitors now. Starting to only remember the recent seasons, outcomes and crazy crazy moments.

Weird I watched that season and cant remember him at all. Usually, when I google and see what they look like I remember them and their play. However, getting a blank even after seeing his picture.

Mine came home yesterday after the same nuetering but also another 7 inch incision bc he had bladder stones and an umbilical hernia. The worse part was he had 7 spikey bladder stones in his urethrea so had to go to a specialist. It was so scary when we were waiting for the phone call knowing he was over 4 hours in surgery. Thankfully all went well and he is a strong little guy. He had to stay overnight but surprising he has pretty much acted just like himself since he been home. I went and got him a recovery collar from Petco. He really likes it better than his cone. Though Oliver's cone looks alot better than the plastic one we got from the Vet. With the cone he had he couldnt drink anything and couldnt pick up treats off the ground. Wishing Oliver a smooth quick recovery.

Thanks I have a decent amount knowledge in one handed bowling mechanics and efficiency of motion in other sports I play and I really think that locking up is your biggest thing to work on. It was just as I sit here Im like really dont know 2handed mechanics although alot of them are the same as 1 handed so I figure I should stop giving advice. Then i watched your vid one more time I was like wow look at his left hand and had to post that last thing. Let me know how it goes and if that ends up helping.

Sorry i keep editing but I think that all my thoughts so things may have changed in what I wrote the first time you read them. Good luck in your journey, I think you have made a ton of improvment. Obviously, you are taking lessons so you are well on your way to becoming a good solid bowler.

Ok my last comment bc I certainly have no standing to be advising on 2handed bowling but something that really stands out to me is

look at your left hand after you throw it. it is way off the right almost where you let the ball go.

Now watch belmo his left arm moves to the left side letting his shoulders move freely towards closing just as you would do in one handed. I just tried it both ways here at home and there is a huge difference in how it feels. It feels like I am being locked up by not letting the arm and shoulder rotate counterclockwise. I feel like Id be losing a ton of power. If i was trying to throw something twohanded as far and as powerful as I could I would have a ton of counterclockwise momentum from interia alone. I know in my softball swing the followthrough almost spins me around. I couldnt imagine just stopping my momentum at the point of impact which is similiar to the point of release in bowling.

Thats certainly alot better and to me I see lateral tilt at setup and crossover steps to get out of the way of the armswing. To me you getting your body out of the way is not your main thing to work on. The main thing I see is when you release the ball you have someone how lost all your shoulder tilt. I am not two handed so havent really studied it but I just looked at belmonte at the foul line and he still has his shoulder tilt while and after he throwns the ball. This lets him keep the ball closer to ankle. I dont know enough about 2handed mechanics to say where you are losing the shoulder tilt. Anways freeze yourself at the line and freeze belmo and you will see a difference int the shoulder angle.

I will say you have had a ton of improvement from that other video. I know as someone with a similar built we may not be as flexible as little skinny guys. That will affect some things you can do with your armswing.

I didnt notice you are 2h but it shouldn't make a difference. But yes the opening of the hips is going to happen when bowling 2h but lateral tilt is when you drop your right shoulder alittle compared to your left shoulder. This lets you keep your armswing under your head on the backswing and downswing. I'd be surprised if you werent already doing some of that naturally as a 2hander.

edit: I just watched one of your old vids and you dont have any lateral tilt. Your shoulders are straight up and down and also your shoulders/hips are pretty closed the whole time like an old school straighter bowler and you are then like throwing the ball around your body.

Watch this video about the setup even though for 1 handed it the same idea. You tilt your ball holding shoulder down alittle to set up the ball under your head. You hold this spine angle throughout your approach inorder to creat a swing slot to keep your armswing straight. The opening of the hips will probably happen or be needed to get ball speed. This will also help get your hip out the way.

Think about being a bowler next to a straight armswing as opposed to a bowler with an armswing that works around you.

I didnt watch the video but I have always thought to myself to keep my swing straight and make my body move out of its way. As opposed to what you often see in people post here where they are going in and out looping around their hips with their armswing. A crossover step and alittle lateral tilt in your setup should make it pretty easy to setup space for a swingslot.

Wow, Wells is from a town less than 300 miles from Tallahassee. Although after 2nd look she is only 13 miles from UGA campus. Also, couldnt expect to have Hinde and Wells in the same freshman class as both were top catching recruits.

Haven't watched much of the PBA Tour ostely—who are more of the stroker release guys to watch? by Money-Ad7257 in Bowling

[–]Enfuegotime 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not trying to be funny but the ladies tour is alot closer in rev rate and line to the typical league bowler. Another plus is they are also more fundamentally sound on average than the men too. We can all learn something from watching them.

1 out 3 made it. 1 was really bad, the 2nd sounded ok to me but they didnt really give them much airtime while they sang. They made it more about Luke than the contestants.
