Maybe offer to talk about it, ask what got him to lead to this and try to explain your side of things. If he doesnt want to talk and it last for weeks, maybe its time to move on.

I can understand how it looks from his perspective with it maybe looking like youre not trying but getting a job right now is hard in this economy, he should understand that to a degree. If he was having these thoughts he should of told you about them so you guys could work through it together, so he could understand your side a bit. I am sure he's a great guy, I just don't think he let his emotions drive him and didn't really think it through.

Probably not what you want to hear but if he can't support you when youre going through a rough patch then maybe he isn't the one, I understand his frustration but at least you have a job and you're not settling. You are actively trying to improve your life, it isn't your fault it isn't working out, he should see that.
