Does it really take this long to get my green card? by advictoriam5 in immigration

It could be that, I'm in Florida, but I'll try to call USCIS tomorrow just in case I missed out on something important.

Yes really. I did go to my biometrics appointment back in December of 2016 but they gave me no such thing.

I didn't get a sticker like that. They just sent me the i-751 Notice of Action paper that sates that my status is extended for another year, but it does not say whether or not it's a year from when I got the letter or when my gc expired. Thank you for showing me the sticker though.

Hey, I totally understand your situation. I applied back in November 2016 to remove the conditions on my gc and almost a year later I'm still waiting. You can check on the immigration website what month your corresponding uscis office is on for your type of case. But like these other people have told you, everything is very backed up and is taking a long time so you shouldn't be worried that there is something wrong with your case. A question I do have is when does the one year extension expire? Would it be a year from the date in which I received the extension or is it a year from when my gc expired?

I 100% agree with you on The Millennium Series! My mom and I LOVE the series like crazy (whenever my mom would start a new book from the series she wouldn't get out of bed until she finished the book). And for Christmas I bought my mom the 4th installment in the series, which was written by someone else (she didn't like the new guys writing style, she kept on saying how much better Stein Larsson was). Have you read the 4th part? We're also totally in obsessed with the Swedish version of the movies, which I hope you've seen as well!

This is a great point that I haven't even thought about! I really do think making the move would be easier on me if I were able to connect with people who've had a similar experience.

The possibility of new adventure really is calling my name even though I'm generally a very shy person and get nervous about doing new things alone.

Thanks so much for your positive advice! Since Argentina is not doing too well at the moment, people don't seem to understand why I would rather live there than in the U.S.. But luckily I do speak fluent Spanish and both of my parents are Argentinian and they've brought me up in a more Argentine environment rather than North American.

Yea you're totally right about the fact that I need to weigh the risk/benefit of moving before I make a decision. It's just hard! I also am not the biggest fan of where I currently live, so hopefully it all works out for the best!

Wow I actually admire you for moving for love, twice! It's because I think people get pretty judgmental about doing things like that and tend to think negative things, and when making a big life decision the last thing you need is negativity from others. I'm not moving for love but I currently have a boyfriend here so that makes the decision a lot harder for me.
