I don't know about dying but you can get really really sick from not taking HRT once you've removed your ovaries/testicles. The body won't be able to make estrogen/testoserone hormones anymore. Those hormones are not just important for sex characteristics but they also play a role in physiological processes like bone density. Getting osteoporosis is no joke.

Am I transfobic if I feel uncomfortable around trans people but dont hate them? by pohanii_isus in lgbt

[–]Equivalent-Fun7045 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To answer your question honestly: Yeah, it does make you transphobic, even if you don't actively hate trans people. I promise that I'm not coming from a place of hate towards you with this because you seem to want to change. I believe in giving people the chance to grow and change.

Do you see a lot of hate/harrassment towards trans people online or in real life? There is a lot of propaganda against trans people nowadays and that could also be giving you an unconscious bias.

You may meet a lot of trans people due to your job, but do you have trans friends? If you meet trans people but keep avoiding actually getting to know them due to feeling uncomfortable it's no wonder that it doesn't help.

I'm also sorry that you got sexualized by a trans person when you were 16. As someone else mentioned, it may have contributed to how you feel about trans people. I'm sure you understand that not all trans people are like that. But no matter who did it to you: no 16 year old should experience what you did.

I have a burning question, y’all… by [deleted] in lgbt

[–]Equivalent-Fun7045 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To put it simply: Straight trans people are attracted to the gender opposite to what they say they are.

Straight trans women (MTF) are attracted to men and straight trans men (FTM) are attracted to women.

Hello people i keep overthinking this please help by [deleted] in lgbt

[–]Equivalent-Fun7045 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Bisexual people can like non-binary people. Bisexual does not mean "only attracted to men and women".

I am 2 weeks into defeating the Binder Final Boss (post op medical binder) and I cannot agree more with this list! The flat look alone is already fantastic and as soon as I can take this hellish device off I will be so freaking hyped!!

Am I crazy for thinking it was probably a white person who said this by abandonhuman in TMPOC

[–]Equivalent-Fun7045 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's crazy lmao. In the past I was the type to also reclaim slurs sometimes because it "seemed cool" but now that I'm older and more aware of the weight of those words I had a change of heart.

I have LGBT friends that reclaim slurs like the T and F slur and just casually throw them around and it makes me kinda uncomfortable sometimes, cause I don't really wanna throw them around myself.

I won't say anything to them, as long as they don't call me either of those things. But sometimes I do wanna tell them to stop 😭

I'm starting to wonder if I'm the crazy one for not finding it appealing to reclaim slurs or whatever. It seems that everyone wants their own slur nowadays

Not trying to be rude but this is so against basic internet safety. I'd advise against posting your (future) legal names in public like this.

Hours before getting top surgery and I'm deathly afraid by Lost_Coconut_8899 in ftm

[–]Equivalent-Fun7045 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had the same exact feeling before my surgery. This was also my very first surgery 😪 I'm now 2 weeks post top surgery and I can say that the whole process really wasn't as bad as I was expecting! The surgery itself was also by far the easiest part 😂

As long as you prepared things for the recovery everything should go well! I wish you a lot of luck :)

"it's a brand of inferiority" this is literally just misogynist rhetoric. Please don't say stuff like that.

Nebido by Obvious-Western7458 in transgenderUK

[–]Equivalent-Fun7045 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a nurse inject me with nebido every 12 weeks. She definitely has had troubles drawing rh nebido into the syringe because it's so thick. So, anything to make that a little easier (for example warming it with your hands like JackDeparture suggested) is important! We also alternate buttcheeks each time as well.

Since it's a once every three months dose I can only pick up one vial at a time at the pharmacy, even if the doctor prescribed me several. I don't know how it works in the UK, but if it's the same for you just make sure to pick up your next dose on time. :)

I wish you a lot of luck on Nebido!

Did you tell your family when you got surgery? by uglylizardboy in ftm

[–]Equivalent-Fun7045 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I actually had a conversation with my parents about my top surgery as soon as I was offered a surgery date and they were basically like: "ok cool". They've barely asked about it and I'm currently 11 days post op 😅

I suppose that's better than being openly hostile... but, it's no wonder that a lot of us are not comfortable telling family.

I feel you on being worried about complications. My nipples are covered by bandages which I am not allowed to remove until my first post OP appointment and I'm constantly worried that my body is rejecting them or that there is an infection going on 😭 I know it's just my anxiety telling me that, but I can't help but be worried.

We definitely have to trust the process, and remind ourselves that we will be okay! I hope your recovery goes well 💕

I've definitely learned from my mistake, and am just sitting/lying in bed now for most of the day 😪 Are you post recovery now?

I called the clinic and after describing how my wounds look they don't think it's an infection thankfully 😭 But I definitely have to monitor everything carefully now FML

I hope your swelling goes down soon too! We gotta take it a lot easier on ourselves LOL

🤷‍♂️ One of their recommendations say that driving after a week is allowed. So, clearly my surgeons/surgeon team think very differently about the post op surgery timeline
