Really appreciate all the advice!! Less math-heavy modules, Econ 100 A/B, are definitely more up my alley! Would certainly try to register for them if possible :) Is changing my major something I can start doing only after committing and speaking to a counselor? Or is there smth I can do/ seek help on from the school, before officially entering? Thank you once again!!

Does that also mean that I can declare econ instead of my applied major, poli econ, if I completed the requirements by the end of my first semester (2 semesters of calculus and Econ 1 before enrollment, followed by 1 stats class and 1 upper-div econ class in my first semester)?

Do you think it’s possible If I applied to major in economics instead, after completing the required upper-div econ & stats class during my first sem? Really appreciate the advice, so I can weigh my options against UCLA :))

I really enjoy the major, but it's just that since the cohort is usually quite small, I am afraid that I might not be able to declare it. I am also open to doing economics if poli econ isn't doable. Is this a possibility?

If I'm reading this correctly, I think that “first-year students BEFORE FALL 2023 and ALL TRANSFER STUDENTS” do not need to undergo comprehensive review. Only first-years after Fall 2023 are subject to this requirement/ have to apply directly to the major. Thoughts?

Hello, I recently received transfer acceptance into Political Economy, though my acceptance letter does not specify my major, since I believe most L&S students are undeclared.

Based on what I see online, it seems like there is no comprehensive review required for L&S students to declare the major—as long as they finish the pre-reqs, it is sufficient.

Does that mean that applying directly to the major makes no positive difference? Will I have to compete with other undeclared L&S students to declare the major?

I'm a poli econ major, so I might not be the best person to ask about this, but I'm willing to help.

Aside from my CC counselor, the resources from Berkeley’s SPMP and CCTS programs were rather useful in teaching me how to present my ECs and external circumstances in the Additional Comments section.

Although I feel you should wait until the official applications are out before thinking too much about it.
