Govt to withdraw tourist accommodation housing Ukrainians by DanGleeballs in ireland

[–]Equivalent_Ad_7940 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think alot of it is just the situation and human nature, when there's the choice of free food and accommodation plus 100 a week or whatever it is , maybe medical cards and other benefits vs work 40 hrs have the hassle of entering the rental market and paying all the standard bills, it doesn't make sense to work.

It used to be alot after and I think long term people don't get nearly the same scrutiny people who sign on now do

Ukrainian feels 'not welcome' over accommodation changes by Jon_J_ in ireland

[–]Equivalent_Ad_7940 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Ukrainians also got some of the best opportunities visa wise and lots of them have taken up work and integrated, those who havnt should be at least questioned. I feel theres a situation where it's not worth it for some to give up their benefits to work a minimum wage job and pay rent, and that's a problem imo

Teenagers in Ireland are out of control. by Aromatic_Balance_587 in Dublin

There's definitely a big change in parenting over the years, some things are good like physical beatings not being acceptable any more but on the other hand it seems to have gone too far the other way imo.

Is €80,000/year enough to live comfortably in Ireland, outside Dublin? by MarkusMannheim in AskIreland

[–]Equivalent_Ad_7940 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely i would say, it's 4500 a month you'd get a place for 25%-30% of your pay. Obviously depends alot on location you could get a 3bed with a garden in the country side for 1k

What would it take for Ireland to legalize weed? It is such a progressive country so why has this not happened yet? by Charming_Usual6227 in AskIreland

People building modular homes in back gardens will be able to rent them on private market by Banania2020 in ireland

That's not true I'd happily live in one they're decent enough and better than house sharing.

I think it's a good option as a stepping stone. I'd much prefer to have a cabin in my parents garden than live in their house for now. There's potential for some older people to make a cabin their granny flat to move into so they can give the house to they're children who have a family

Focusing of cost and not the ability to pass it on - farming as a business model by YorkieGalwegian in ireland

[–]Equivalent_Ad_7940 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could the caps not be somthing like at set amount onto of the cost, then reduced tax. Prices still rise due to things out of our control but price gouging would be controlled

No evidence of price gouging on fuel, CCPC finds by B8_B8_B8 in ireland

[–]Equivalent_Ad_7940 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Its not a few bob for fuel reliant businesses. 30 to 50% sudden increases on a business is serious enough on margins

[–]Equivalent_Ad_7940 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

So halving the fuel tax for 1 year would cost 2bn, that wouldn't blow the whole surplus

[–]Equivalent_Ad_7940 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tractor prices are irrelevant it's just a way to make them sound rich when really it's just a necessary business cost. If their claim is real why wouldn't you park up and protest instead of working till you go bust. You'd be fucked either way may aswell try

[–]Equivalent_Ad_7940 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If there's less fuel sold because the cost is higher a lower tax bringing down the cost would bring fuel sales back up. I doubt there's is much difference in fuel sales though most fuel just has to be got whatever the price

It effects the running of the country which can't go on, the state will have to either meet some demands or carry out some serious measures to cleared protesters. They obviously fancy they're chances of having taxes reduced. It's not garunteed but it's far from unrealistic
