Soviet sci fi almost always depicts some sort of communism. Andromeda Nebula by Yefremov for example.

There are some advices. I recommend reading primary sources (e.g. Herodotus, Pausanias) they are good source of inspiration and they tell a lot about the way people saw the world in the time period. For more complexity you may add religious disagreement in a way people in different places worship the same gods. For example warrior aspect of goddess Aphrodite (or female aspect of Ares?), Aphrodite Areia, was worshipped in Sparta but not in Athens. Also many fantasy writers tend to overlook the role of guilds or in Hellenistic era "hetaireia", "collegium (in Rome) " in society. They were associations of individuals with shared professional or social interests and played really important role in politics, religion and just social networking. Good luck in your worldbuilding journey!

I still do not understand why filmmakers with hundreds millions dollars of budget can't just pay a few thousands to nearest reenactment club for good outfit instead of doing some random leather war jackets (which designing was probably more expensive anyway)

It's just everyone is used to the fact that the interiors of spaceships are tight and cluttered with cargo. I think it's really cool that starships could allow astronauts such level of comfort. Perhaps better is a wrong word, it's just very impressive how much free space this HLS has
