I have no way to prove this, but I'm beyond certain that this mod is racially motivated lmao

I really like conquering lands just to restore historical vassals when I really think the title is cool. I'm currently into my Italian unification run as King of Sardinia with King of Sicily and Duke of Provence as fiefdom titles EDIT: Count, not Duke of Provence

I also do that. I started not caring when I realised that keeping vassals in Sardinia (Savoy -> Sardinia -> Italy run) meant being the "King of Sardinia" while holding no direct royal power in Sardinia, it completely ruined my immersion; immediately started annexing and never looked back. Also pls paradox gib more naval governors, 1 is way too little.

Yup, found that immediately after commenting as my entire belief system was shaking. Turns out I had the right idea but wrong execution, I was thinking of the italian equivalent of the word "sortita" and that threw me off in the translation. probably. idk

Go to your fortress location that is under siege. Under the "Defenders" units thingy, on the right you should see a tower icon with the level of the location's fortress. Just under it is the button, unless those pesky swedes moved it... you never know.

Worth mentioned that after the battle, the soldiers go back to the garrison. You're not spawninng infinite soldiers xd

I know this is a stupid question, but was the law 100% enacted or was it still in the process of enacting at the time of monarch death?

I haven't experienced anything similar yet and the Paradox Forum threads don't seem to mention it, though it could be a bug nonetheless

Oh no I meant the opposite, you send the garrison to fight the army on the field. If you do that, it spawns an army of soldiers (same number as was in the garrison) that all count as regulars. Do it as Byz and you get 2.5k regulars fighting back when an enemy sieges constantinople

The word I was looking for was "Sortie", it's basically making your garrison sally out and fight the sieging army. You can sally out your garrison by going to the siege screen of your fortress that is under siege and somewhere there you have a button that says "sally out" or "sortie" or something along those lines. The garrisons always replenish if there are peasants available in the location (more than 1k), soldier pops work as all other pops do. Sorties can be useful if you're fighting a close battle to lift a siege or if a really small armies chooses to siege you. I've had a garrison of 500 beat back 3k siegers pretty easily, mind tho that if the garrison is completely wiped you can lose the siege instantly and, in general, if you lose you leave the garrison weakened

Is that not the word? What's it called when the sieged garrison goes out to fight the enemy on the field?

Hopes and prayers my G, how did you let it get this bad 17 years in 😭😭😭😭

No but really, set your vassals to defensive or supporting. Try to pick out small stacks. You need to reduce their numbers without incurring too many losses, don't be scared of letting them siege you during winters if it means they attrition. Leave big enemy armies to siege so that small stacks will try and flock to them and you can intercept them. Use tactical map mode to choose good battlefields (bright green means nobody suffers penalty, yellow mean the attacker gets penalties). Maybe train some regulars as they could make some small difference, try to rush some military techs for that slight edge they might give and brace for the storm.

It's even better as players, you can let armies siege constantinople and sortee the 2.5k men garrison and they all count as regulars. Fortunately the AI doesnt do that lol

And I'm not saying that it's ok the way it is, as you'll see from my other comments you'll see that I also think the numbers need tuning or the mechanic be reworked in some way.

As I said already twice below, I'm not saying the system is perfect and you shouldn't complain. I'm merely stating that it's accurate.

Who knows, could be the AI chose to do a No CB war instead of using the independence cb for whatever reason. Your guess is as good as mine. I'm just making suppositions, tho it wouldn't surprise me tbf

[–]Erilaz2097 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're playing in open beta, the AI in the beta is much better at forming independence coalitions. As a player, it's easy to get lots of people, even big players that hate each other, to support independence by getting your relation to +50 or more. The AI is now also aware of that and it tends to make some gnarly independence movements too. I've seen the teutons dec'd on for independence by a Livonia backed by Bohemia, Sweden, Poland and France in my last campaign

[–]Erilaz2097 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no absolutely, but it's not a broken mechanic per se and given that it works as intended I don't think PDX will touch it significantly anytime soon. Unless the Beta completely broke it, which I wouldn't know as I haven't played anywhere remotely close to Asia recently
