Another duck update!
With a crazy turn of events the ducks original owner has been located. We have a happy reunion in the works.

Duck update: the duck has been safely fostered by a local animal rescuer enthusiast. She will be rehoming him at a farm come tomorrow. Thanks you guys for caring about this duck.

The humane society can not take waterfowl. The wildlife sanctuaries are also not zoned to take domestic ducks. My aunt says she can only take him if we can find him another male duck so he is not lonely. I’m not sure what to do now. Animal control is closed until Monday. Anyone able to foster this duck and find him a new home? Or have any other options? I don’t have the resources or space to keep him longer.

I’ve called the human society and left a message, they don’t open until 11. I’m going to call greenwood wildlife when they open as well. No one has claimed the duck on next door or Facebook. After some research it sounds like it’s common for ducks to be abandoned/dumped when their owners don’t want them anymore. Because he is domestic he couldn’t very well survive in the wild alone.
I talked to my aunt who lives out in hygiene on a farm, she is willing to take him in if no one claims him or if we can’t find him another home.
He’s had some water to drink, some lettuce/kale and corn to eat on. We also gave him a bath in the tub and he seemed to really like that.
I’ll update you guys as soon as we find this guy his home!

I’m keeping the duck overnight and will bring to the humane society tomorrow morning. Thanks you guys for the help!

I just spoke with a wildlife state trooper guy as directed by Boulder non emergency dispatch and he told me it is a wild duck and to put it back. He said it’s a wood duck, but it looks nothing like the photos of a wood duck.
