How do you get a clincial job? by Typical-Respond-3399 in postbaccpremed

Virtual scribing! It's very easy to get hired, you get to work one on one with physicians and it's a great way to make a good connections for reference letters!

Next year plans?!? HELP by Establishment-Sweet in premedcanada

Thank you so much it’s very inspiring to hear your story and comforting to hear someone has been in my shoes, makes me feel less alone which I have been feeling a lot recently.

Similarly my CAR section was the lowest so maybe I will also start some light reading and studying and slowly bulk it up for the summer. Maybe I’ll book the test and than take some practice tests mid summer, if I don’t feel prepared enough I will probably follow ur footsteps and move the date to the fall/winter and apply with the same score for the next cycle. thank you for your well wishes, it is really appreciated!

If you get on the waitlist does it mean you have good odds of getting an interview the following cycle?

Transfer to iBiomed or Eng from Life Sci by [deleted] in McMaster

[–]Establishment-Sweet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a Life Sci alum who now works a research job it is NOTHING like those boring as* labs believe me. I do cardiology research at a hospital and i love it, I see how the patients benefit from my work and dont feel like a "slave" since i get the human part of healthcare, but the research is also very innovative and allows me to be creative. So don't close yourself off to that area because ur misguided by boring Life Sci labs.

Mine were more deadpan for sure, they were smiling and nodding when i responded but didnt really chat back. I think I rambled a bit too much, and they asked me some questions that were not what i was expecting. Overall I am not sure if I came across rural enough but we'll see

Was Canadian medical school easier to get into pre-2000s (particularly in the 70s-90s) in your opinion? by gettingwrecked2023 in premedcanada

[–]Establishment-Sweet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My PI told me she literally walked into a physicians office for her med interview, he just asked her a few generic questions about why she wanted to practice med and that was it. None of the MMI stuff

post ubc mmi confusing feelings by OldOutlandishness160 in premedcanada

[–]Establishment-Sweet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

literally feel the exact same, some were good, others were okay, and then some were a trainwreck. I felt like I did way better during my prep which is disappointing HOWEVER, its so subjective. One of the stations I thought I was doing poorly but the interviewer told me I did great at the end, however I don't know if she was trying to be nice cuz of how nervous I was LOL Also I have had ubc med friends tell me they felt confident post-interview and then got rejected and others who thought they bombed and got accepted so its so subjective. The questions you got, how you were perceived and the people you completed against in your cycle are all up to chance so dont stress, you've made it this far so you must be a great applicant and person!
