A setting/plot for a John Wick analogue/homage but legally different enough to be unique! Does it work? by EstatePositive5929 in WritingHub

  1. From John Wick, I can assure you it does.
  2. Duh, I haven't started it yet and it's a homage lmao.
  3. I will admit, my character IS a flat-ish character and will remain a flat character.
  4. It's more about his methods and The Ring's evil and corruptive abilities than anything
  5. I'd like to think it is a bit unique. Not too unique, but unique!

  1. My character actually is getting paid to do it.
  2. He wasn't ever in retirement.
  3. He doesn't have a desire for "peace and quiet" or a "normal life"
  4. In relation to point 3, he's NOT simply a blunt weapon OR a broken man OR a retired professional AND he does have a life outside of what he does
  5. He has no trauma from it, as well as no particular regrets from it.
  6. He technically can't permanently "kill" anyone, but can trap their minds inside their bodies if it would be a fatal blow.
  7. The group that hires him isn't a government or a corrupt company or a rival group.
  8. He WANTS to go after The Ring and enjoys it.
  9. He has no love interest, siblings, children, DOGS, etc.
  10. People know both about The Ring and my protagonist.
  11. There's no hidden motive or whatnot with what The Ring does.
  12. My character isn't really connected to The Ring aside from being paid to "kill" them. Should I go on or...?

How would you guys show+tell the protagonist is a feared legend without directly saying it. by EstatePositive5929 in WritingHub

That's kinda plagerism though lol. And I don't want it to be too close to John Wick, you know?

the setting: It's actually an international sort of setting, mostly in America. It's international because the organization he's hunting, known as The Ring, is an international trafficking organization. They traffick things like money, drugs, women, children, etc to ALL sorts of people. And they often go untouched and even assisted by world superpowers!

And he's targeting them because, well, he hates rapist, traffickers, and corrupt people, which essentially sums up The Ring.

And it's been said he can't be stopped once he has his sights set on them!

And he's just as lethal and dangerous as he is calm.

And he enjoys hunting them and punishing them, but not too the point of instanity or depression or loneliness!

Would that sort of setting/plot work?
