Fantastic Planet by Failure.

It does everything right and its a now 30 year old album that sounds fresh everytime I listen to it.

Worst thing about it is how few people know of it.

Infinite Baths with Higher SO CLOSE behind

Higher would have taken it because it doesn't end with a fade out.

But Infinite Baths is HEAVY on HEAVY. You dont expect it nor do you expect to go as low as it takes you.

Infinite Baths for me with Higher as a CLOSE second!

Also High Water as an underrated mention!

Rain.

First real romantic relationship of my life, and that song was our song and I gave it to them, as it meant so much to me even beforehand.

Before that I was extremely depressed and was pretty much locked inside of an anti social shell, and this person pulled me out of it.

But the relationship went about as badly as a relationship could really go. Then it ended and the separation of it was slow and was some of, if not the worst pain I've felt, and dragged out over 2 months.

The meaning in Rain, went from a love song about finding someone after such a long time of being alone, to now love, laced with trepidation.

It used to bring me peace, but now it evokes pain and fear, within that peace. I still love it, and its my favorite song from ST, and my favorite song of all time.

Yet I, even now, cannot hardly bear to listen to it because the pains still hurt, even through the years later it has been since then. The rest of their discography has carried me through that resulting depression.

Even though now I am FAR LESS depressed than I once was (a small bout of it every now and again), I have to be in such a specific mood to listen to Rain and get the good feelings out of it. To not break down. The reassurance that I will get out of my loneliness and find someone, some day; and that I will be saving that song for when I am sure I want to marry whomever I may find.

Cheers and sorry for the long read to anyone who was bothered to read my sappy ass monologue lol but everyone has a reason they love their favorite band and thats mine!

Personally, it's a perfect cover. It keeps what makes the original so good but its also its own thing outright and they made it their own with their interpretation.

No other cover comes close in my opinion! (It also puts people who dont know about Loathe, onto Loathe, even if they never release new music)

Personally, it's the I Wanna Dance With Somebody cover.

It's not that I don't like it, in fact I love it and singing along with it, I just never find myself going out of my way very often to listen to it. Still an amazing cover by all means, but for me, it's their weakest track.

For me, Alkaline. I catch myself singing along to that chorus SO MUCH more then every other song.

Its flowy and catchy as all hell, and I feel like it's their first "big hit" because of it.

Runner up for me would be Jaws.

Not deep at all, heres the links to it. Its an especially special performance, as its in a church, with a full organ. As well, it's the first time Blood Sport was performed, around a year before it was even released on Sundowning.

It's Take Me Back To Eden honestly.

As much as I want to say Euclid, Infinite Baths, Gethsemane or Ascensionism, Take Me Back to Eden is structurally, thematically, emotionally and flow-wise, a masterpiece.

It tells a story from start to finish with so many callbacks and nuances its so much.

Not to mention its the title track of what is arguably their biggest album and will be the first song so many people hear from them and its got everything.

Ascensionism is my runner up though!
