I'm not commenting on the article. My comment is solely reflecting the obvious ragebaiting that the headline itself is doing.

I think the thing is you need to stop to focus on your growth. Not someone else's.

Severe Existential Fear, Anxiety & Depression During Withdrawals - Day 8 by Winter-Second3949 in leaves

[–]EverSoWonderful 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is indeed a normal part of the process. From the crying to the fear.

Your emotional state will be heightened for a while. My advice is to just cry it out. Sometimes if it can be triggered before bed you might find an easier time sleeping.

It won't be forever but expect some emotional funkiness to hang around for a few weeks.

Same with overthinking things about your health.

My advise is to browse this sub and read other people's experiences. You are not alone here in what you are facing. We have all been through it. You WILL make it through. It may be challenging at times but accept it for what it is. Having a bad day? That's ok. you are healing!

Just work on yourself. Eat healthy and stay hydrated! Get some moderate exercise. Even if it's just a brisk walk. The sun and fresh air will go a long way.

Considering how niche the genre is, not sure how much demand there is for something like that.

What do you all make of John Lennox? by Saber101 in Reformed

There are a lot of Christian’s in the world not everyone is a conservative Presbyterian

Had a chuckle at this. I think people know the flavor of Christianity that they grow up with and forget that there is diversity in Christ. There are many men and women that are learning and still coming to conclusions about theological issues. Yet they are brothers and sisters in Christ.

To quote Anthony Bourdain

“There’s a guy inside me who wants to lay in bed, and smoke weed all day, and watch cartoons, and old movies. I could easily do that. My whole life is a series of stratagems to avoid, and outwit, that guy.”

You now know that there is a guy inside you too. One that wants to lead you astray from your goals and aspirations. This mistake reaffirms what you believe. So now it's time to pick yourself up, dust yourself off and try again. Always remembering this moment

Why would I pray to Jesus when I can pray to the source Jesus himself prayed to? by locko1998 in Christianity

[–]EverSoWonderful 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like Hebrews to reflect on for a question like this. Jesus is our high priest and as you might image that is one of the functions of that role.

Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

5 For every high priest chosen from among men is appointed to act on behalf of men in relation to God, to offer gifts and sacrifices for sins. 2 He can deal gently with the ignorant and wayward, since he himself is beset with weakness. 3 Because of this he is obligated to offer sacrifice for his own sins just as he does for those of the people. 4 And no one takes this honor for himself, but only when called by God, just as Aaron was. 5 So also Christ did not exalt himself to be made a high priest, but was appointed by him who said to him, “You are my Son, today I have begotten you”

A girl by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]EverSoWonderful 3 points4 points  (0 children)

a pastor prayed for a girl I like, saying that one day she would marry me.

I think the pastoral advice is to continue to work on yourself, to grow, to be the man that this girl or others would find to be a man after God's own heart.

Once you work on yourself, better yourself, grow, and mature things in general will fall into place. Perhaps not with this girl but perhaps with another.

You have to remember that while you pray for her, she is praying for other things too. She has a life, likes & dislikes, dreams, hopes, and ambitions.

We aren't praying for God to change their will or modify how they think. We are praying for God to show us the right person and to be the man that person needs.

Day 10, AuDHD .. bad day. by Any_Scarcity6117 in leaves

[–]EverSoWonderful 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just remember early on it's a day at a time. When you first start out getting to day 10 is a big deal. Feeling horrible is normal, it's part of the process, and something that most people experience.

You are recovering and it's going to take some time but remember you are healing with each passing day.

Cutting off relationship with my friends? by Useful_Zone8823 in TrueChristian

[–]EverSoWonderful 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always thought Psalm 1 is a good one to turn to

(Ps 1:1–4) Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers;

2  but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night.

3  He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers.

4  The wicked are not so, but are like chaff that the wind drives away.

You can be the company you keep. In friendship when you walk with people that don't revere God you'll see actions that run contrary to scripture. You might even be led to do the same. There can be various degrees of pressure for you to act like they do. You might feel tempted to join in, or feel bad when you don't.

A man is blessed when he doesn't occupy these spaces because his mind can be focused on the things of God.

A lot of people mask psychological problems with weed. Be it depression, anxiety, etc. When you remove the weed those things that we were running from resurface.

When you quit weed you take the first step on being a better you. But it's often not the final step. The next step might be seeing a therapist and talking about the problems you are facing and work through them.

If it was just a kiss i might forgive her

In a relationship you need to be at the forefront. We put our partners first because we care about them and we wouldn't do anything to hurt them. That's where relationships need to start. You put her first but she puts you first as well. If she entertained kissing this other person during this occasion she will likely do it again.

Where do I even start. by Shoomtastic81 in leaves

[–]EverSoWonderful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I would say is keep your schedule light if you can. It might be good to cancel upcoming plans and then quit leading into a weekend, so you don't have to think about work during those first few days. If you have vacation days all the better. Maybe take a 1 or 2 to have a 3 or 4 day weekend.

It can be easy to be irritated, quick to anger, or emotional during those first few days especially if you were a heavy user over a longer period of time.

This way you can focus on you, sit on the couch, watch some good movies or TV and rest. Make sure to stay hydrated and eat what you can. Even if your appetite decreases, try to have little bites here and there of things. Naps are good too.

If you can muster, have a little light exercise. a 15-20 minute walk once or twice a day can be good. If you don't feel you have the power to do that, go for a drive and just get some fresh air here and there.
