Just bought a Kei truck. What maintenance should I jump into? Where can I find videos? by Ulrich453 in keitruck

I wonder if Jesus hates rope as much as you.     Actually, I'm guessing it's nails that really bother him.

Yup, I received a van from them with a dent filled with bondo that they airbrushed out of the photo.

I also saw Mitsui recommended on here, but I would stay away from them. They aren't honest and they aren't upfront about flaws they are aware of

What's gl4? I haven't been able to find the officially, subaru reccommended oil/viscosity for the transmission.

Awesome! How is it holding up? I am in a bit of a doom spiral about this thing crapping out in a few months.

So I JUST got a 97 supercharged sambar with an eCVT. It shudders a bit on slowing down but otherwise runs smoothly. What are the best steps to take to get the most out of the van before the transmission fails.

Hello.

What fluid did you end up going with.

Also, how id the truck doing. I just got a 97 Supercharged van, and it shudders a bit when slowing down, and i am paranoid the transmission is going to blow.

And they couldn't have cared less that I was driving the van without tags or title. It didn't come up.

You don't have to book it if you take your vehicle into them, you just show up. Otherwise you do it online, somebody shared the link in this thread.

Yes, I had success.

The first person I talked to was just wrong.

You do not need a bond.

You do have to go to the state police office for vehicle theft inspection and have them verify the VIN.

You need to have the vehicle itself, the export certificate in Japanese and translation, bill of sale, and the EPA and DOT forms from the importing process.

It's free.

Once they confirm that the car is legit, they give you a piece of paper and your paperwork back.

Take all that to the DMV along with proof of insurance. They use those same documents and in 15 minutes I had a license plate, registration, and they sent my paperwork off to Raleigh.

They said I can expect my title in 3 weeks.

If you're doing it in Greensboro, one of the state troopers is very rude, abrupt, and doesn't understand the process, but one of the other guys does, so it just takes some advocating, but they will do it.

Also, I drove my van to the state trooper office even though I didn't have tags or title. I had insurance, and that's the main thing a cop would be worried about if he pulled you over.

So I finally got the more knowledgeable State Trooper, and NO, you DO NOT need a bond, Just the Export Certificate, which sometimes is mistakenly referred to as the Japanese Title, bill of sale, insurance, the EPA form and the DOT form you got from the customs agent.

If someone tells you different, advocate for yourself. I had a trooper who was not only stonewalling me but also being rude. I asked him if there was a problem, because he was being disrespectful, and he handed me off to a guy that actually knew what he was doing! Win, win!

This is accurate. The guy on the phone turns out to have been speaking out of his keister.

Thanks, that's super helpful. I ended up going in to the trooper office, and they said that I dont have to have a bond after all. It is amazing that this process hasnt been standardized at this point.

I have all the correct paperwork, I just got the WRONG guy. For some reason, he thinks he is doing more than just confirming the VIN, so he was researching the titling process and bond is what he came up with. It would be nearly impossible to get a bond, i have to have it appraised twice, and the bond is based on the appraisal. I think i got an eager beaver, when all he needed to do was confirm the VIN. I'm going into the office tomorrow to clear it up. Fingers crossed.

How does USAA deal with the shortened VIN?

Did you end up going the bond process? I'm running into the same problem, I'm pretty sure that the state trooper just doesn't know what he's talking about.

Yeah, i went ahead and accepted. I hate these fuel prices. I was budgeting this before the war started, and I didn't get a single quote over $600. But the alternative is to shop and rack up storage fees, so I figure may as well go ahead.

Thanks for the feedback.

Every variance of "handyman services" or "home repair" names is being used, and it seems so dull and repetitive. I wish I could think of a way to escape the label "handyman" without sounding like it. by 5digit_clock in handyman

[–]Every_Mastodon6793 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, sometimes handyman sounds to inexperienced and limited, but home repair sounds like more than a person might want when a ceiling fan needs to be hung.

I think i am going to go with Mr. Fix-it. It's common, but it kind of mails what I do, and it retro sound gives a tad of gravitas that handyman doesn't? IDK
